Bula Kavananda is hands down one of Tampa’s hidden gems. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is warm, welcoming, and genuinely uplifting. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable—they make you feel like part of the family, whether it’s your first visit or your hundredth. Quality is wonderful and owner is humble!

Great vibes, strong drinks, fair prices, and good kavatenders

Such a cozy place!
From the moment you arrive, it feels like stepping into a friend’s home. The interior design is truly unique and original, full of charm. The teas and cookies were beyond delicious!

The service is friendly, but just a heads-up—you have to go to the counter to place your order, otherwise you might be waiting at your table for a while. Someone from the staff does bring your order to you afterward, though. I’m not sure if that’s how it always works, since it was my first time there.

Still, the experience was really pleasant. I felt comfortable and enjoyed the moment. Definitely a lovely spot to relax and unwind.

There’s no food but there’s a dominos next door. Whatever you do, do not I repeat do not park in the dominos lot. You can park in the lot next to bula that is not dominos. So on the right side of your in the parking lot of bula.

One of the best coffee houses in town but bring your own snacks! They offer a wide variety of coffees, teas and lemonades with all sorts of yummy flavors you can add! They have couches and plenty of space inside and out!! Everybody is awesome here staff and customers alike!! It is hands down my favorite place to study and it's safe! It feels like a second home!! I love this place so much I drive from Brandon!

This is a really pleasant, amiable coffee shop. The employees are fun but also professional, and the seating is comfortable both indoors and outdoors.

Don’t be afraid and show your face, stop hating, come out and show us who you are and let’s see if you can hold up a conversation, I’ve been coming to this place for years now and this is the best Kava bar I’ve ever been too, don’t let these haters fool you because they’re just looking for attention.

Ok so I didn't end up liking kava, this was my first time. But the service and ambiance at this barely-renovated-from-a-cute-house kava/coffeeshop can't be denied and shouldn't be missed. I don't really have much else to say except I hope to return for an espresso some day in the not-so-distant future. If I lived in the neighborhood this would be a great place to come grab some coffee in the morning and maybe do a little work. Or...take a nap! ??

This place used to be warm, welcoming, and inviting.

Management decided not to put the people first and follow "a vision" ... I guess that vision includes firing Kavatenders who actually care about their patrons and hiring new ones that only care about themselves.

Want poor customer service? Go there when Logan is working. He'll tell you all about himself and him alone. Just don't ask for anything special or custom, it hurts his head to work. But you'll hear a lot about Stetson!

Want to feel judged and ignored at the same time? Go there when Cassandra is working. She spends more time looking in a mirror and at her phone. When she does look at you, it's with a fake smile and a cold tone.

I guess Gabi’s vision includes robbing the Polynesian and Bohemian culture and grossly turning it into an aesthetic suitable for a lighter skinned crowd. A stolen culture, turned into an aesthetic, presented by an anti-culture, "sleeps with the male staff" manager.

People with deep pockets used to call Bula their home. But I guess too much progressive music, fellowship, culture, and uniqueness doesn't fit the culture appropriated vibe they're currently going for.

Gotta be white, hippy, and easy on Gabi’s eyes to get the special treatment. The crowd evolved from a melting pot of warm cultured Kava lovers; to whitewashed, pretentious ego-moochers that all look like they belong in an H&M catalog.

I feel sorry for the good employees that they have left. They're surrounded by selfish, self-centered, clueless leaders.

What happened to Bula?!

My husband and I found this magical place just 3 months before moving out of town and quickly started coming every morning and staying for at least an hour to connect with everyone ?? We fell in love with the other regulars as well as Logan and Jason and are going to miss it so much. ✨?? Thank you, Bula for being our cocoon! Xoxoxo - Jaime and Ren
