What a treat for Pinellas locals!
I’m so glad I could finally make it here. Heads up, they’re currently only open Saturdays and Sundays at this location. But if you’re able to make it - you’re in for a wonderful experience.
The bakers from the kitchen took care of us. They provided such kind and helpful service! We asked for recommendations and were provided with enough detail to choose what best suit us. We got the Nutella croissant, beef empanada, chicken empanada, and cinnamon sugar croissant donut.
These pastries are DELICIOUS and high quality. You can always tell the difference between fresh and homemade pastries versus processed. At Chef & the Baker, you can expect the former.
We are so glad to have such a unique and high quality bakery in our area. Highly recommend!

Not Impressed
I’ve seen a few articles in the Tampa Bay Times about this bakery and their restaurant in Tampa. The Pinellas Park location is nearer, so I went there on a Saturday morning. I can’t say that I was impressed. This location is in a factory park and the customer area is a small space in the front.
I’m a huge bakery fan and love pastry. This was only OK. I tried the Morning Bun and their Croissant Donut and both were nothing special. I also found them to be quite expensive. The morning bun was $6.00 and the donut was $5.00. This might have been fine in a café setting where overhead might justify the price. Here? No way. The only place to sit was outside at one of two picnic tables with puddles of water on the seats and table tops and surrounded by dead plants in knocked over planters.
Other bakeries, like Frida’s in Largo, have nice indoor and outdoor seating in pleasant settings at better prices. I won’t go back to Chef & the Baker.

You must try the kouign amann!! I was in for breakfast today and had one of these delightful croissant-muffin-apricot turnover-inspired delights, with a cup of cappuccino. Both were amazing. Actually, the pastry was life-changing. Stop in and plan to dine in! The beef Piccadillo empanada was absolute perfection, and it’s obvious why it beat Bobby Flay. The Madeleine cookies were so light but rich!
Have a coffee and enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of this local, artisanal, professional & delightful bakery.

Ordered a dessert online for a holiday party via their website. When I arrived I was told they ‘couldn’t find the order’ after being charged $90+ dollars and with an order confirmation in hand. I left empty handed and scrambling for alternatives.

First time visiting and was under wowed with the service and selection. All the yummy food other reviewers posted must be seasonal items because the selection was sparse and the bake on some items wasn’t appealing. I ate the chocolate chip cookie waiting for the empanadas and I did like the flavor. I don’t see a desire to drive 30 minutes from home for bakery or empanada items. The gentleman at the counter is nice but lacked social skills to help a first time customer or to provide update because I was willing to spend money. ?
Parking: Drive all the way to the back of the row of warehouses to find the entrance and in front parking lot

Worked here as a barista for 5 months and this place is the best! So welcoming and like a family. I highly recommend the chicken empanadas, the bacon baguette and the banana bread. Also if they have the caneles you must try them!!!

They are so good. I had them cater donuts for my wedding. For anyone trying to visit, just remember that there's not really a place to sit so consider it to go and definitely consider it for your events.
