I saw videos of this place through Tik tok and the reviews were phenomenal. I ordered delivery and purchased the Karaage rice with noodles. The chicken was extremely dry and hard even with the sauce they include, and the noodles were very bland and dry as well. I really wanted to like this place but it was such a disappointment. Only good thing about the meal was the taste of the sauce and the slaw was okay.

So I was torn on whether to write this review but the owners need to know. I love this place and have ordered several times before. Unfortunately, the most recent experience was very different than my previous. Both my dinners from Sunday evening had SIGNIFICANTLY less protein as well as less onions at the bottom (a great part of the dish!). Both dishes consisted of mostly noodles. The chicken was much less tender this time as well. The chef or the directive from management was clearly different than my previous experiences and I’m very hesitant to go back at this point. I really hope they figure it out.

Favorite restaurant in the area. Extremely high quality, delicious food, and reasonably priced! With huuuge portions. Genuinely a 10/10 must try kind of spot

I was really disappointed with Chanko. We ordered three dishes, and two of them, the pork belly and the grilled chicken, were completely drenched in sauce, making them hard to enjoy. The rice tasted cheap and lacked any real quality. The Katsu chicken was OK, not terrible, but nothing special either. The decor was cute, but unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to it. I honestly don’t understand how this place has such good reviews.

Love this place. Food is quality. Atmosphere is awesome. Old school diner looking building which is pretty cool that they renovated it to their style while keeping the nostalgia of an old school diner. Highly recommend if you’re in the area ever. Won’t be disappointed

Update: I did not see they responded but am very pleased and ready for the challenge! I will be coming back and trying the curry once again! I’ll be taking pictures as well to really show how it is! I did have veggies in my previous curry too but I will be open to whatever since I’m not too picky on what’s in my food, (just if the flavor is phenomenal). As for the Okonomiyaki, I have cooked and lived in Japan for a good part of my life and I did make some at home to compare. I will be trying both again to see if they really WOW me!

Chanko. You had such a LUCRATIVE chance to get a forever customer. I came in to this 3/5 atmospheric dine in spot expecting some quality Japanese grub since my missus told me this was the spot to go. I was very hungry also when I ate here so this is a genuine review. We ordered the Curry and Okonomiyaki and sat down in a booth. I could feel my mouth salivating at the smell of the curry, feeling so excited to satisfy my hunger! I took the first bite… and thought I should take another to really get the flavor. Nothing. The curry left me so disappointed I made curry at home and ate it somberly. I couldn’t believe there was no flavor in the curry when it smelled so delectable! Oh and the Okonomiyaki was even a bigger disappointment. All I was thinking was, “Wow. it could have been better” with each bite I was taking. The service as well isn’t really a service towards you, it’s more of an order on the iPad and they call your name type of situation. Which is fine but not a very welcoming feeling for new people. To summarize this long extension of how I felt about Chanko, this place had the biggest opportunity to be phenomenal, but it needs more flavor! I unfortunately won’t be back but I hope they improve on the taste for new people coming in!

(Curry was $13ish, Okonomiyaki was $12ish and drinks were around 6 or 7 dollars each we got a couple drinks.)

Chanko is an old diner car turned into a Japanese fast food concept. So you order on a screen and then your name gets called and you pick it up. There are no servers or staff other than in the kitchen. It is a build a bowl concept with rice and noodles and various meats. The fried chicken and pork belly are very good. I had them with the spicy sauce. They were well seasoned. They have a variety of beers and drinks that are Japanese. It has inside and outside seating. Sitting outside in the evening with friends is very nice.

This place is stupid good. I don't even know the name of what I ordered, it was one of the first things on there. Got it with grilled chicken and the layered pancakes. Make sure you get extra sauce on the side. Get a green tea. I've never been, but it felt like I popped into someplace in Tokyo and had some local food. You order everything by yourself on the screen as soon as you walk in, then they call your name when it's ready. Seating for about eight groups of people or so. Go there immediately.
