A Culinary Standout in South Tampa

If you are looking for a breakfast spot that perfectly balances elevated flavors with a relaxed Florida vibe, Counter Culture is a must-visit. The atmosphere is vibrant, but what really seals the deal is the amazing service. From the moment you walk in, the staff is attentive, welcoming, and genuinely helpful with recommendations, making the entire dining experience feel seamless.

The Sweet & The Savory
• Ricotta Donuts: Let’s start with the absolute highlight. These are, hands down, the best part of the meal. They are light, airy, and practically melt in your mouth. If you only order one thing, make it these.

• Pancakes with Passion Fruit Drizzle: These are a revelation. The pancakes themselves are fluffy, but the passion fruit drizzle adds a bright, tropical acidity that cuts through the sweetness perfectly. It’s a sophisticated twist on a classic.

• Coconut Pecan Bread: This was incredibly impressive. It is exceptionally flavorful, with a rich nuttiness from the pecans and a subtle sweetness from the coconut that makes every bite feel indulgent.

• The Bayshore Breakfast: This is the only part of the meal that felt a bit grounded. It’s a perfectly fine, average breakfast, but compared to the creativity of the other dishes, it’s just just ok. It’s a reliable choice if you want something standard, but it doesn't quite reach the heights of the specialty items.

Final Thoughts
Counter Culture remains one of the most exciting spots in Tampa. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the combination of those ricotta donuts and the top-tier service makes it a five-star experience

Very nice place, friendly staff. I had the bolognese judging by the atmosphere the photos and prices I was accepting it to be really good, unfortunately my experience was that it was very little meat and had almost no flavor, my wife had the duck and sadly she was not impressed said it was a bit dry and also lacked flovor..

If you come here ask for Caleb! He is a true gem to the foodie community! His recommendations were perfect & this elevated our dining experience. Honestly it made the food taste better when paired with the proper wine & cocktails. Ask for Caleb you will not be disappointed!! 10/10 recommend!!

Unbelievably slow service that borders incompetent. Extremely weak manager with poor leadership abilities. Food for 4 came out 1 at a time over 35 minutes!!! After 1 hour the last person (me) finally got breakfast. The Manager had been walking aimlessly all morning, I was able to tell him how much they dropped the ball. His immediate reaction was defensiveness and stated that was normal for them. He couldn't answer specific questions about how to deliver upscale service for a high end restaurant, as how this restaurant is advertised and priced. Food was very marginal and priced 20% higher than market prices with neighborhood restaurants. Extremely disappointed, moreso with the soft management and competency of the restaurant as a whole.

I’ve had brunch here so that convinced me to come for dinner, that’s was a mistake. First let me start by saying the staff is super friendly and nice. My problem is with the food. If you ask for peanut butter and someone brought you butter with peanut pieces how would you feel ? (I am referring to the pistachio butter). The entire menu is like that. The bread with the burrata was left on the grill to long so burnt where it touched the grill, the corn and crab dish is in the wrong plate so it spills on the table and is a lot of corn for quite a small bit of crab. The lettuce bite is legit just a piece of lettuce cut in half with beets and dressing on top. If it said wedge salad I would understand and not order that but the descriptions are long and useless. The dates were the only good dish we had. We both got medium steaks, my girlfriends came well done and mine came rare. The kitchen took forever so we didn’t send back. The portions are also not listed so my girlfriends got 3 oz and I got 6 oz, Remember the terrible descriptions. We got a dessert and ordered three to try everything that’s looked unique. The oil was off or something because everything was fried and had an distinct oil taste I couldn’t shake. The donuts were dense and needed a jam filling not ricotta but I’m not a chef so take that with a grain of salt. The churro was good except the oil thing and the ube cream had nearly no flavor. The other best dish of the night was the carrot thing. It was honestly good and unique. But let me say again, the service was great I just hated nearly all the food.

Such a delicious reliable spot in Tampa m. My boyfriend and I came for brunch and had the best experience. It was a beautiful day with an amazing view of the water and the whole place felt so welcoming from the moment we walked in. Every person who helped us was genuinely kind.

The menu has so many options, seriously something for everyone, and we loved everything we tried

My friends and I had brunch at Counter Culture for the first time today. We received the most incredible service from Romeo, one of the managers, due to a small inconvenience. Romeo went above and beyond to ensure we had a pleasant experience and was genuinely so kind and enjoyable to talk to. Our server Patrick provided us with excellent recommendations and was attentive. We all were impressed with our delicious-and beautifully presented-food, and the mini donuts were out of this world! Next time we’re in Tampa, we will definitely return!

Pretty good shakshuka, cracker Benedict, avocado toast. Kind of overpriced. Service a little slow.

This place really exceeded my expectations. All the food was SO good, unique flavors prepared with care -- we had nothing negative to say about any of the items we ordered, really wins across the board. Atmosphere was clean and open, and our server was kind and attentive. Was surprised it was fairly empty while we ate; granted it was Monday but I feel this place deserves more traffic.. hidden gem?
