I’ve always enjoyed Counter Culture in the past, but my recent Saturday brunch visit was really disappointing. The restaurant was unusually slow — it took about 30 minutes before our server even took our order, and another 30–45 minutes before the food arrived. When it did, everything had clearly been sitting under heat lamps — the plates were hot, but the food itself was only warm on the outside and cool on the inside. My husband’s mushroom tacos were chewy and inedible. Since we had been sitting there for an hour we didn’t complain we just wanted to pay and leave.

I understand places can have off days, but this visit was far below the standard I’ve come to expect from Counter Culture. I really hope this was just a one-time issue because I’ve always liked dining here before.

This was one of the best meals I have had in a while. Everything was cooked to perfection. The tuna melted in your mouth, the short rib was unbelievable, and the asparagus, well actually make me like asparagus. I was there with two friends celebrating our birthdays and they finished our perfect evening with a complimentary dessert of amazing donuts which was delicious. What an amazing culinary team!

This is a must restaurant for food lovers. Everything was fresh and absolutely delicious. Our family was in from out of town and they are big foodies ; and they just loved it. We ordered a few appetizers and everyone ordered something different from the menu and we all were raving about the food.

We have been going to Counter Culture for several of years. Last night they really wowed us. Their generosity in helping us celebrate a milestone was above and beyond.

First of all let me state that I really hate writing this review because I have had some wonderful dinner experiences in the past year.
However, we had some special guests visiting who were celebrating their anniversary and we wanted to have them experience a wonderful meal together. They could not do dinner so we thought of taking them to brunch. We were so happy to see that Counter Culture was open for brunch so we made reservations for 6.
When asked if this was a celebration occasion I added yes and celebrating an anniversary.
We got there in time and the fine server had taken our order.
After about waiting for 30min the server came to tell us that there were some issues with the kitchen staff and our meals were coming soon.
Just at that time another gentleman seating with his wife came and asked if we had been waiting for a while for our food and he said it was longer for them than ours.
Well, our food finally came for most of our group and let me tell you, I have seen better presentation at Waffle House then our plates that cost 3 x then Waffle House. Not only that the eggs were cold, hash brown were nothing but brown, looked like they were microwaved and mushy. Our friend ordered a waffle with a side of scrambled eggs. We'll he got the scrambled eggs but no waffles showed up. After 10 more minutes or so the acting manager came out to tell us that the waffle iron was broken and would have to oder something else. Our friend ended up asking for a side order of hash or should I say mush browns. At no time were we offered anything to make up for this disaster brunch. Were asked if we wanted dessert so we know the donuts were good so we ordered an order of those.
15 or so minutes later the manager came and apologize because they were filming in the kitchen and the donuts would take longer so if we still wanted them he would give them free of charge.
In all this time nothing about the anniversary request.
This was a $250 brunch worth $2.50.
Nothing was offered to make up for the disaster.
In the end save you hard earned money and go for the dinner.

This was my worst visit it 5 years of going here. Don't count on getting the type of seating you reserved. We arrived at the restaurant, went to check in and was told by the hostess, “Oh, I switched your reservation to inside. There weren't any outside reservations actually available when you booked your reservation.” We had our dog with us and inside wasn't an option for us. Plus the patio only had 2 tables occupied. Another hostess said we can put you at a sidewalk table. We agreed since we were already there. The patio was still only a third full by the time we left. On top of that my food order was wrong. They at least made that issue right.

Honestly, obsessed with Counter Culture! They were able to accommodate my large group on short notice and did so in a way that made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. All the staff we interacted from the front door through the entire brunch service had such big smiles and warm demeanors. Elsie was beyond pleasant and assuring on the phone before our arrival. Caleb was wonderful and patient with our group, even with some picky eaters in the bunch. Every person in our group loved their meal. My husband and I were just so impressed as usual by the food and service and grateful we could bring guests to experience what we know and love about Counter Culture. Thank you for having us!

One of my favorite places to go to. Food is always great service is always friendly and attentive and is not a noise place, we can actually have a conversation 🤩

A favorite spot. We come during Happening Hour, enjoy a classic cocktail, and order a range of inventive and delicious small bites. We always add a crab esquites and save room for desert. The limoncello sorbet is awesome.

Absolutely delicious meal, awesome indoor-outdoor environment, and phenomenal service! We started with the medjool dates, octopus, and artichoke appetizers. All were so tasty and unique with their own spin on it! Entrees continued with each component intentional and cohesive. We enjoyed the Alaskan halibut, yellowfin tuna au poivre, summertime corn papparedelle, and chicken Parmesan. For dessert, we tried the pumpkin doughnuts and they made us an affogato! 12/10 recommend trying this tasty Tampa gem on the bay!

I've been here at least 3 times and the service, food and atmosphere are always a vibe. You can see the bay from this location (obstructed) but it's a decent view. I just truly enjoy myself and will definitely be back.

Counterculture is an absolutely amazing place for dinner. Incredible service we sat at the bar. The weather was fantastic and the food was unbelievable. Super delicious. Five stars every time.

Always an entertaining experience sitting at the kitchen counter and watching the preparation of the dishes and the interaction with the staff. Great offerings for brunch, and always a special menu as well.
