Gave the wrong take out order and I was informed on my next visit I will be given a complementary meal. On my return visit I was informed it was 1 week since my visit so they would not comp me the meal. After an extensive conversation with the manager I was given a comp meal. But then the kitchen staff came out and was extremely boisterous, belligerent and threatening. I don’t recommend visiting them because if they make an error, you will suffer in more ways than one.

We had an absolutely amazing dining experience at Dunn’s River Island Cafe! From the first bite to the last, every dish was bursting with rich, authentic Jamaican flavors that felt like home.
The curry goat with white rice was tender, well-seasoned, and perfectly spiced—every bite melted in the mouth. The oxtail with rice and peas was slow-cooked to perfection, with that signature savory gravy that you just want to pour over everything. The spicy jumbo shrimp was bold and full of flavor, with the heat perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the vegetables, and paired beautifully with the mashed fried plantains.
The portions were generous, the service by Sheron and the top chef Mr Green was warm and welcoming, and the presentation was spot-on. It’s rare to find a place that captures the true essence of Jamaican cooking while keeping the atmosphere so inviting.
If you’re craving authentic island comfort food that will leave you smiling and satisfied, Dunn’s River Island Cafe is the place to be. We’ll definitely be back!

I wanted to love this place. We dined in. Thankfully we had several hours — it took over an hour. My son’s chicken strips and fries came out 30 minutes before the rest of our meal. The waitress came out after a super long time to say they were out of kids cheeseburgers. We asked if they could do plain buttered noodles, she said yes. (He ended up with curry sauce noodles) — identical to what my husband ordered. I ordered sautéed lobster. Again, she came out to say they only had one portion of lobster, not two. I asked to sub it with chicken. The peas and rice were dry. Fruit flies galore. Terrible service and the food was obviously not the most fresh. The lobster was very fishy. We won’t be back.
