I had the fried catfish it came with hush puppies the catfish and has puppies were cooked fresh. Also for the sides I had black eyed peas baked beans and potato salad it was very good it tastes like a homemade meal and it was affordable I would recommend it lif you're in the mood for comfort food
Love Hank's catfish and BBQ the staff is helpful and friendly Tommy was an absolute gentleman food was delicious and fresh and hot thank you for a great experience at this lovely family owned and operated restaurant
Great great southern food choices, turnips & cornbread can't beat it
Just coming back to Tampa after several years, I was surprised to find Hank's in place of the old Sonny's. I was skeptical, but I wanted some Catfish. LOL. The cashier was by himself and very young...but oh so patient and respectful!! He was on top of his game. Out of the 7 meals at our table...none were bad. The Catfish was perfect, the okra scrumtious....the ribs brisket and Greens was like eating at Grandma's house!!! I left full and Happy!! All 7 in my party were raving. Don't know when we will get back to Tampa, but Hank's will be my dinner choice!!
Everything was awful, different owners
Nice neighborhood bbq.
First time eating here. My husband and I were craving some fried catfish, so we Googled it and found this place. The food was GOOD! The fried catfish was delicious, and the side dishes were good too! The whole crew was nice to us—very kind and friendly. It is going to be our new spot! Next time we will try their brisket!!

My husband, kids and I went to this place for the first and absolutely last time! We ordered $150 worth of food just to be disgusted to my core! The ribs was a mess, the baked beans was horrible. The Mac n cheese was pitiful! The beef brisket was as dry as desert sand. The hot sauce sitting on the table looked like something Harriet Tubman used. The drink I couldn’t even finish. The tables were not clean. The cooks in the back looked at you upon entering like “why are y’all here” ….Not friendly what so ever! We usually go to Big John’s BBQ in Tampa @ which even after spending $150 we still left there and went to Big John’s where they NEVER disappoint!!! I will NEVER return back to not another Hanks BBQ in a million years! & I’m speaking for myself, husband AND all 4 of my kids…Just a complete horrifying experience!??????

I went here to pick up some food to bring home, and the first thing I wanna say is that the place deserves that I come back and dine in properly next time; the decorations and atmosphere are on point and feel very Southern (I am no expert).
I ordered two fried catfish meals, and a fried alligator tail (never tried before); the catfish meals came with 2 sides of my choice, but they also added 2 free hushpuppies in each meal, and they are DELICIOUS. The alligator tail nuggets were surprisingly good, I let my mom try it without her knowing what it was and she liked it (she then changed her face when I told her what it was haha), but I would order it again. Everything was perfectly fried, except maybe the side of onions which I didn't like as much, I don't know.
The woman at the counter was helpful, friendly and authentic (maybe the other reviewer who put 1 star was expecting the usual soulless fake treatment), she even offered to help me bring the stuff to my car but I gently refused.
Overall, a good place if you are craving some fried food. I can't comment for other dishes.
