Disappointing Experience
I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I ended up waiting for a long time, and no one even took my order. It was clear that they were severely understaffed, as the few employees who were there seemed unable to keep up with the number of customers, even though there were only other two tables. I understand that busy times happen, but the lack of communication and basic service was frustrating. I eventually left without getting to try the food. Definitely wouldn’t recommend it unless they improve their staffing and customer service.

Food was great and I liked the ambiance, it did take excessively long for food, and the service was average at best, BUT worst was I disliked the cleanliness of the space. It appears very dirty when you look in the corners and furniture leg’s and bathroom trashcan and the floorboards, almost like it once flooded yet there’s no smell and there’s no debris, but seriously check my picture because I was unsettled with this level of dirty in an open sushi restaurant, all the chair legs were like this. Disgusting, honestly—gas station quality. Hopefully they really clean this place eventually because I do otherwise like it.

Isekai is a small, friendly, family-run operation with a creative menu and top-quality ingredients. This was the first place I found in Tampa that offers toro (fatty tuna) and real wasabi. Everything I’ve tried on their menu so far, from sushi and onigiri to tempura, gyoza and chicken karaage, has been top notch. They also serve coffee, tea and boba drinks - my favorite is the Mango Passionfruit Tea with the mango chunks in the bottom. The atmosphere is cute and casual, with anime art and two screens showing anime and live action food or music videos. There are also tables available outside. I highly recommend this place.
Friendly /kind staff but inattentive. Screwed up simple things as no salt on edammome (i asked for it)....
no Wasabi with roll, etc.
Edammome was super soggy ( you could tell it was frozen, and somebody just threw it in the microwave). Roll was good, but
Will not return.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at this extraordinary sushi restaurant, and it’s safe to say it’s one of the best sushi experiences I’ve ever had. The sushi rice was absolute perfection—perfectly seasoned, soft, and held together flawlessly, complementing each piece of fish in the most satisfying way. And the salmon? It was the creamiest, melt-in-your-mouth experience that left me wanting more with every bite.
What truly set this place apart, though, was Chef Chris. From the moment we walked in, he made us feel right at home. His passion for his craft shines through in every dish, and his welcoming demeanor created such a warm atmosphere. Chef Chris’s staff was equally amazing—attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making sure we had the best dining experience possible.
If you’re a sushi lover (or even if you’re new to it), this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I can’t recommend it highly enough!

I have never had such a great experience at a randomly selected restaurant. The customer service is off the chain, from when you walk in to when you walk out. The dumplings were incredible, the boba was perfection, and the sushi was OUTSTANDING. Brian was super helpful and attentive, and the chef was incredible and explained everything we received. 100% will always recommend.

Hands down my favorite place to get sushi. Incredibly slay staff! Chris and Justin always do a great job. The atmosphere is very demure, very mindful. If you want to try a bangin’ bowl I’d suggest the Florida Man Bowl. Be sure to bring your friends for delicious grub and a fun time c:

Chris and Brian were awesome! Highly recommend this hidden gem. Great service and amazing food. Chris has over 20 years of sushi perfection experience and it is obvious when you try the rolls here. The Internal Combustion roll was superb. Very fresh tuna as well. 10/10.

This was my first time but I ordered a ton and literally all of it was amazing. The only thing that was just so-so was the miso but big whoop. The toro tuna was incredible at a good price point. Amazing signature rolls, good bun thit nuong, and the atmosphere is cool if you like anime but also just cool Japanese decor. Owner and other staff was friendly enthusiastic and attentive. Not many places though where you get New York quality in Tampa. Good wasabi and tamarind soy sauce for the toro.
