I was there twice this week, and both times were amazing. We were treated like family. Lorena and Jill were spectacular Sunday as were James and Anna Tuesday. It’s hard to decide what was better: the food, the service, or the comfy chairs. Even KJ who brought our food was especially friendly.

So sad. I pick this restaurant every year for my birthday. Have eaten here a lot in between. Tonight 5 of us spent nearly $500 for cold potatoes, meat cooked not to our order, $69 for an uncooked prime rib. Ridiculous You’ve lost me as a customer and ruined my birthday meal. Thank goodness, my company was great

We had high hopes for our anniversary dinner here, especially since we made reservations in advance. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing mainly due to the service.

Our server seemed rushed and inattentive. We asked him for our red wine to be served when our entrees arrived. We were almost half way finished with our meals by the time we received our wine. There was no effort to make the experience feel special, despite us mentioning it was our anniversary. He did box up my leftovers, I thought for sure he would put the Bernaise in a small container as well. Sadly I opened the container the next day to find no sauce.

We weren’t expecting over-the-top service, but we were hoping for a bit more attentiveness and kindness — especially on a night that was meaningful to us.

The food was fine, but the lack of basic hospitality left a sour taste. Sadly, we probably won’t return, and I wouldn’t recommend this location for a special occasion.

The owner should contact me.. My ratings for this restaurant went from 5 star 1 star. I visited the first time and our prices were different from the next time. It's kind of funny how 1 minute it goes from $4 extra to get salad instead of a side. The next minute is $10 extra. I am very confused. Sounds to me like some people don't know their job. I even asked for the manager that was no better.

V- Man!

As long-time patrons of this restaurant, we've noticed a decline in food quality recently—tonight was particularly disappointing. Our favorite “go-to” dishes were unavailable because they had run out. By the time we found out, it was too late to leave and dine elsewhere, so we ordered alternative items and were ultimately unhappy with our meals.

Our server was pleasant until we mentioned our disappointment about not being able to order what we came for. To be clear, we were kind to her—it wasn’t her fault. However, it would have been helpful to be informed when we were seated that several menu items were unavailable.

She asked if we wanted to speak with a manager, and I replied that the manager should be made aware of our dissatisfaction and decide whether to come over. I believe that responsibility lies with them, not the customer.

We received our substitute entrées, and once again, the Steak Maui was chewy, full of gristle, and lacked the marinade described on the menu. My pork tenderloin tasted off—I even had my girlfriend try it, and she didn’t like it at all. I ended up pushing my plate aside and eating a few bites of her potatoes and tough steak.

Given our earlier conversation with the server, we expected her to check in on us—but she didn’t. At that point, it felt like she was avoiding us. Eventually, she asked if I wanted a to-go box, which gave me the opportunity to express my dissatisfaction and mention that I wished she had checked in sooner so I could’ve ordered something else.

There was no offer of a complimentary dessert—just the check and a “have a great evening.” And the manager never came by.

What a shame. We won’t be returning to J. Alexander’s for a while.

PLEASE bring back the rattlesnake pasta. I used to go to the restaurant 4-6 times a month with clients and family. Since the rattlesnake pasta was removed off the menu, I have been back once in the last 24 months.

I’ve been dining at J. Alexander’s (then Redland’s, then J. Alexander’s again 😅) for many years! I love how consistent they are; when I go in for Mr. Jack’s Crispy Chicken Platter (thee best chicken strips!), the Spinach con Queso (cheesy goodness!), the Fire Grilled Artichoke (that remoulade!), and the Carrot Cake (my absolute favorite!), I know I’m going to enjoy every single bite! It’s where I go for all my comfort faves (did I mention the fries and Mac & Cheese w/the Chicken Platter🤤)!

Food was on point. I had the pecan crusted fish, crab cake was so delicious, artichoke appetizer was also a hit. My friend had the old fashioned burger and fries with delicious cheese and spinach dip as an appetizer. We both enjoyed the carrot cake for dessert. Waitress was attentive and service was great. Made our experience better. Will definitely be back.

I had a great experience at J. Alexander’s. The place has a nice, classy vibe — quiet, dim lighting, and a formal feel without being stuffy. Our waitress was super attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and the portions were large. My favorite was the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

We had a wonderful experience! We went there for our anniversary and my MIL’s birthday. The staff went above and beyond to make our dining experience great! Our waiter Liam was amazing; he made some fantastic suggestions. My husband got the ribs, my MIL got the shrimp and I got the trout. We also ordered drinks and dessert (warm carrot cake). Absolutely everything was incredibly delicious! We will be going back very soon!
