Upon entry this is one of the cleanest restaurants I’ve ever been to. I’ve worked in restaurants for over a decade and was impressed. My server, Brandon, was great! Thanks for being there on New Year’s Day! I ordered a couple sushi rolls and some hot sake (delish). The sushi was phenomenal! Could not have been better. Super fresh super flavorful. The sushi chefs and menu curators have really set themselves apart from other places with their unique takes on rolls. Can’t wait to go back and try more menu items!

Came here for one of my work holiday lunches last week and everything was absolutely wonderful. I wish I remembered the name of our waiter, but he was top-notch very attentive and ensured everything went smoothly. I think the only negative thing I remember is the back room we were in got very hot temperature wise ! But other than that really have no complaints. The food was amazing. I recently visited Kelp Sushi Joint and had such a great experience! The atmosphere is warm, modern, and inviting—perfect for a casual meal or a night out. The restaurant is beautifully maintained and has a relaxing vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome.
The food was absolutely delicious. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Even with my seafood allergy, I was able to enjoy a full meal without stress thanks to Mimi, the manager. She was incredibly kind and went above and beyond to make sure I had safe, delicious options. I felt genuinely cared for, which is rare and so appreciated.
Our server, Cal, was also wonderful—friendly, attentive, and always there right when we needed him. His recommendations were spot-on, and he made the experience feel personal and enjoyable.
Overall, Kelp Sushi Joint delivered fantastic food and exceptional service. I highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!

Honolulu sunset. Edamame. Thats it ! My daughter loves the Mexican roll and my son crushes the kids bento box. Of course the service is great. Very clean place. I remember when this was origami sushi and to be honest they haven’t done a bad job transitioning into their own spot.

Just ok. Waiter got the order wrong then convinced me that what we ordered. One dish cane overloaded with onions , no onions were featured in the dish picture on the menu. Had better sushi in the past

We have eaten at Kelp many times but last night ordered a large order through Uber Eats. One person out of the group got food poisoning all night from the rolls she ate. So so disappointed.

The food at this restaurant is truly delicious, and it has always been one of our favorites. In the past, the service used to be excellent as well, which made the experience even better.
However, during our last two visits, the service has not been the same. We usually call in advance to place our order, since we only go during our lunch break and like the food to be ready when we arrive, as we don’t have much time to eat. Lately though, the food has taken much longer, which forces us to either rush through the meal or take it to go.
Additionally, the staff has been a bit rude. We were told that preparing the food in advance was “an exception”…and that they wouldn’t continue doing that, even though it was something we had never had an issue with before.
Like what is the problem with that…you sell food I buy it …you have empty seats I go and eat…is that your business right?
When it came time to pay, they also made unnecessary comments.
We really enjoy the food and would love to keep coming, but we believe the service should go back to what it used to be: friendly, efficient, and professional.
While taking a break from U of Tampa move in weekend, we were looking for a place to eat after some shopping. Kelp came up. It was a lot an hour before they closed. Staff was very friendly and kind. Our server answered all of our questions and made accommodations when we asked. Good was delicious. Such a great selection of unique rolls. They put their own touch into their menu.
We will definitely return.

I came to Tampa to visit friends. We were getting hungry and they said sushi. This is their favorite place and they had to show it to me. Fable Tide was our collective favorite roll. The server was such a sweet kiddo too. He's apparently been there a long time and was very knowledgeable. Ill be back my next time in town. Thank you!!

Their picnic box was delicious! Great spot to pick up sushi on the way home. The presentation of the rolls is very well done. There is a great fish to rice ratio and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely order from here again.
