I stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel this week for a few days on a business trip.
I was dealing with severe jet lag, so discovering the onsite restaurant was a lifesaver, especially since they also offer room service.
I tried their Ropa Vieja plate, and it was solid. The rice was great, the beans were flavorful, and the beef was incredibly tender. The sweet plantains added a nice contrast in flavor and balanced the dish perfectly!
While the menu prices are a bit on the high side, they’re pretty typical for a hotel restaurant. Considering the quality of the food and service, though, it definitely feels worth it.
Will I try their food again? Absolutely!

Incredibly slow, flavorless food and also so PRICY. Legitimately for these prices the food is awful. 32 dollars for a New York Steak that doesn't even have the proper fat cap. Lost orders and confused hosts. Awful, don't waste your time here. With the texture of the mashed potatoes, I'm almost sure it's just boxed instant potatoes. Which is outrageous for a plate of 32$/27$. At this point, a McDonald's is better.

Staff and atmosphere are great, however the French dip I ordered was literally deli meat drowned in jarred gravy and almost inedible. Others around had meals that looked better, but I was severely disappointed with my order and left hungry.

Second dinner here as I'm at a conference. Their burger is delicious and the staff friendly and attentive.

The employees try hard here and seem very nice. The food is decent and there is effort in the service but better training is needed. The soup comes out without a spoon so the waitress has to go in the back to fetch a spoon. Wouldn’t it be better if the cook put the soup up on the counter with a spoon or at least have the spoons available at the counter for the waitress.

This restaurant is inside the Embassy Suites USF, Tampa.I ordered the red pepper soup and a cheese burger.I can’t state any positives here. Be prepared to wait for a very long time for your food to be served (I waited for around 55 minutes for a soup and a cheeseburger)The soup was extremely salty and it was evident it had been reheated in the microwave (inconsistency in temperatures, one spoon very hot, next cold). I could not finish it. I requested my burger to be medium-well and oh man, it was well, well, very well done. One thing was for sure, it was not raw!Bottom line: Not recommended.

Due to events they had on going, and all of 5 groups they had to close the kitchen early, hate to see them in a busy time.
The service was incredibly slow. No ambiance. Maybe it's just post-covid time, but the place was empty. There were plenty of servers but still we waited an awfully long time for a hamburger. Meanwhile, the other dish we ordered was ready quite a long time before the hamburger. We saw it sitting there. It was brought over to us only when the hamburger was ready. Food delivery needs to be better coordinated!

Mangroves is inside the Embassy Suites by USF - limited menu, but everything was delicious!! Good service, too.
I won't go so far as to give this restaurant five stars (as a few others have done) but I will say it's a notch above the typical hotel restaurant. Catering primarily to hotel guests who choose the convenience of the hotel restaurant, it serves lunch and dinner, while breakfast is a free hotel only for hotel guests.

Catering primarily to hotel guests who choose the convenience of the hotel restaurant, it serves lunch and dinner, while breakfast is a free hotel only for hotel guests. We ate here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner and were pleasantly surprised. Expecting the usual two or three-star hotel restaurant, Mangroves is clearly a solid 4-stars. I think they could be even better, but they're most likely hamstrung by Hilton management on making as much profit as possible. The service we had both times was very good.
For a hotel restaurant, this was really a good experience. Servers could not have been more friendly and offered great advice on the various dishes (what to try and what not to order!). Crab cakes really good, conch bites not so much. All entrees were tasty, portion sizes good and prices very reasonable.
Thankfully, it’s been quite some time since I’ve been to an establishment this awful. I don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll give it a go. A friend and I decided to check it out since it was located nearby at the Embassy Suite Hotel. We arrived at 4:50pm, and were rudely told by the hostess ( later to be server ) to come back in 10 minutes when we open. Never suggesting to browse the menu, or have a drink at the bar. Upon our return, we were seated and placed a drink order. The bartender came back to our table to inform us that the wine was warm, but we could have it on ice. That’s a first, WOW. So drink order, promptly changed. Now, comes what was referred to as “ food “. My guest received a bagged salad with a clump of smelly cod, which had to be removed to comply with air quality regulations. My dish, beef, rice & beans looked and had the texture of clay, and tasted as though it had been marinated in brine. Our server was made aware, and responded by removing the charge for the cod. However, remarked that the “ Chef “ has been hailed over my magnificent platter. The evening finished with a nice big sloppy piece of unauthentic key lime pie. A little green drizzle, and they’ll never know the difference. ( wink, wink ) Way too late for long story short, but I’ll once again try. JUST DON’T DO IT. ? The End
