It's been 17 years since I've lived in Tampa so I haven't been in the loop of where the best deviled crabs and stuffed potatoes are so I found this place on line!! Wow they were amazing!!!! I will say this is one of the few places left in town that have really good ones!!!! The service is great and people are friendly so now when visiting Tampa this place will be one of my stops for sure!!!!

I searched for a month trying to find a good Devil Crab, and I found it at Pappys. Your food is awesome, and folks forget the hot sauce make sure you ask for a extra one of Pappy's Devil Crab sauce. It will make you want to slap your Mamma. And no I don't have any pictures to add, because there was nothing left!

I really wanted to love this place. I was craving good deviled crab and this place had great reviews. I almost missed it because the signage outside says island something and Pappys written is small. I almost bailed but decided to give it a go. The people inside were friendly and efficient. The menu is huge with a mix of Island food and Cuban food. I ordered a deviled crab and Cuban sandwich all the way. The size of the deviled crab and the crab filing itself was good. The hot sauce it was served with was legit. Sadly, that's all the good I can say. The layer of dough around the crab was way too thick and sticky. Maybe it needed to be cooked longer? I'm not sure. The outside looked correct but inside it was not. I've had lots of styles of Tampa Cubans over the years but this one ... just no. Who puts spring mix on a Cuban? It was basically a pressed ham sandwich with tomatoes, mayo, and spring mix. I wanted to cry. It wasn't bad per se, but it wasn't a real Cuban either. I think this place has a lot of potential and there were lots of people coming in / out. Stick with what ever it is you're good at and limit the menu to just that. I hope the island food is better.
