So just want everyone to understand I've been to places like this before so I get it. I know how a place open 30 years full of regulars can accumulate this status. I frequent Mama's Kitchen south of Gandy and I feel like the menu and clientele are similar. My wife and I decided since we were going into Michael's and hadn't eaten yet we would give this place a try. Now we came at around 12:30pm on a Sunday and they were busy mostly older people. Clearly the regulars. Waitress never even refilled our sodas and we were there for a good hour.
I ordered a fish sandwich and fries and my wife got a Greek salad with grilled chicken.
Although the fish was properly deep fried they didn't have tartar sauce so I had to settle for mayo. Other than not having much flavor the sandwich ok, the filet was ample. The fries weren't good. They seemed like they sat for a quite a while and over fried. The cole slaw that came with it seemed old as well.
My wife's salad was bad. The chicken seemed like it may have either been pre-grilled and then frozen and subsequently heated in the microwave. It had a strange texture so we didn't even touch it. The salad had almost dressing and only 2 olives. The only thing decent was the potato salad that topped it. My wife honestly didn't eat any of it so I did something I don't often do. I told the waitress it was poor and made her take it off the bill. To be fair maybe we caught the kitchen at a bad time but when you serve customers and they are paying hard earned money you have to really care about the food you're serving. I think having so many regulars for so long just means you just have to unlock the door and take the money. Anyways if I'm wrong on this sorry but we won't be coming back to Riviera again. Good luck

Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in Carrollwood. Many fond memories of coming here over the years. Glad to see it’s still kept its charm. The Club Sandwich is Fire!

This restaurant is currently closed. If you were to ask the owners why, they would lie and say it’s due to short staffing, plumbing, or perhaps an electrical issue. In reality, the health department shut them down. The restaurant is filthy and infested with roaches. It’s clear the owners have little to no regard for health codes and food safety. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs.

The Riviera Restaurant is a classic hometown feel. You walk in and are greeted with smiling faces, there is a sea of regulars filling the seats and they welcome you to join the club. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food reminds you of home cooking or something your mom would’ve made back in the day on the weekends. Classic menu items and they don’t disappoint. If you are looking for something easy and familiar yet still tasty this is your spot.

I've eaten here a few times and it's always been great!
I love the variety of their menu and the amount of food you get for the price can't be beat. The corned beef hash, veggie omlet and grits are delish!
