Long line and wait time. Bathroom gross. Restaurant floor very dirty. No one cleaning tables after guests leave.

A friend showed me this place since it's one of her favorites to go to. The matcha was really yummy, but I didn't know you could add any flavoring to it since the woman who checked me out didn't offer. I only saw it on a small board once I paid and received it, so that sucked, but at least the drink wasn't nasty so it wasn't all bad. Seating was comfy. Nice place to relax and work at. $10 for a fried egg, two strips of ham, and one piece of sourdough toast is excessive. I understand the need to pay the rent in such an expensive area, but still. The most that should be is $6 or $7.

Beautiful work space and great design choices within the cafe. So relaxed and inviting. The food was scrumptious, I had the salad and my wife had the wrap and they were to die for. Highly recommend this place and oh yeah the coffee was bust. We had ice latte’s.

TOP TIER!
Melody is an absolute ray of sunshine. Her warmth and personality is so appreciated. My Vanilla matcha came out perfectly! I love the atmosphere of this coffee house and the timing from cashier to receiving the drink, was super fast considering they were relatively steady/busy. I will be back for sure.

Delicious coffee and sandwiches with a great atmosphere and location by the bay! A little on the pricey side, but it made a great stop before we visited the aquarium!

Original review...Hung up on me when I called. Coffee's okay.

Their reply was reasonable and prompt, so I'll change my review to 4 stars.

Excellent espresso and 100% worth the walk over here even in summer hot, humid days.

Had cappuccino on 3 separate visits. Tried the salted chocolate chip cookie.

On the last day, I also worked from here for a couple of hours. It was quite busy as a cruise ship was docked, yet still very good service. I also had the avocado toast with an egg. Very tasty. Again great service even with the crowds. Other mornings without a ship docked, it is less busy.

I was so excited to try this beautifully designed coffee shop near downtown Tampa. The aesthetic is lovely, and I had high hopes. Unfortunately, that excitement quickly turned into frustration.

First off, one of the most annoying things ever: I spelled my name slowly at the register and it was still misspelled. They gave us a number and asked if we were dining in or taking it to go ~ I clearly said we were staying. But apparently, the number meant nothing because they still called out my (wrong) name when the order was ready, instead of bringing it to the table.

My two sons and I found a window table with tall chairs. No one came by to clear the dirty glass or wipe the table for more than 15 minutes, so I had to get up and ask the cashier to do it. That’s when I finally heard someone shouting a mispronounced version of my name ~ Mariana - and realized our coffee had been sitting there getting cold.

Then the cinnamon roll for my son was handed to me in a to-go box. When I reminded the staff we were eating in, the response was “Oh, I’ll give you a plate” ~ but again, we had to go back and forth to get our own food and drinks. Nothing was brought to our table until the avocado toast arrived. Even worse, when our avocado toast and bagel sandwich were ready, those came in to-go containers too. When I asked why, I was told they “ran out of dishes.” Honestly, one of the most frustrating responses a customer can hear.

On top of that, you have to grab your own napkins, plastic utensils, everything ~ and while you’re doing all the work, you’re still prompted to leave a tip at checkout. We tipped at the register, but looking back, I wouldn’t tip a single dollar based on the service we received.

For a place that looks THIS good, the service and overall experience was a major letdown. Sadly, I would not recommend Shortwave Coffee and will not be returning.
