We read a lot of these reviews and went in with our eyes open. And we had SUCH a pleasant dining experience here.
We were seated and told about their online menu - a couple of items were sold out for the night as they’d had many online orders. We ended up getting a couple of appetizers and splitting the taste of the islands between the 3 of us. Everything came out hot, fresh, well seasoned, tender, and absolutely delicious! Our server was very kind and accommodating, and brought us out some hot sauces to add extra heat and complexity to our food.
Worth noting they charge a 20% service fee automatically so take that into account when ordering, and we didn’t order drinks but it seems that could contribute to some of the complaints about price. Portions are generous and the quality of the food is superb.
Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to enjoy authentic Jamaican cuisine.

Small cheap built restaurant that charges 600+ for a dinner for two with mediocre food, you’re served by the owners children (is that even legal?) please please please don’t waste your money here take your loved one to a nicer restaurant that values your money
Edit - don’t charge 600 dollars where you don’t even have real servers and actually good food ? YOU SERVE “Josh” WINE AS A TOP TIER WINE ?! Mannnn I’m happy I’m not the only one that agrees (look at other reviews ) brother serves you plantains and rice with some mid ass oxtails , cheap wine, I hope people come back for more? Lmao

Came here for date night. I was really taken aback. What is seen on the outside does not reveal what’s inside. The decor is cozy. My server was top notch. Very knowledgeable about the menu. Very professional and courtesy. The food was delicious. I started with the beef patty and coco bread! Chef’s Kiss! The oxtails fell off the bone. One thing I didn’t like was they added gratuity but I get it!

Atmosphere is quaint, aspiring to luxury qualities but missing important aspects of that , for instance needing burgundy wood floors with gold trim. Something like that would be the thing that tied the place together. It's like they have the budget but don't know what they're doing.
Food is........ Decent. I've had better Jamaican/Caribbean food in Tampa. From Cephas hot pot (don't know if he's still in business).
One thing that really sucks about this place is the prices.
A date for 2 people should not be $220 with a mandatory 20% tip.
Godfrey's flagship in Jackson MS and pretty much every elite Jamaican restaurant in Miami and Orlando are leaps and bounds ahead of this place in pricing and food quality.
I don't mind paying the price, but the food should be commensurate with the price.
I mean we just went to Berns a couple weeks ago. Got the filet mignon, truffle Mac and cheese, broccoli and cheese for both of us AND SPENT LESS THAN WE DID HERE. BERNS STEAKHOUSE IS CHEAPER THAN HERE?!!!!! Nice little place but severely overpriced.

Don’t waste your money here , way better food from a Jamaican spot ran out of a food truck , please take your money elsewhere unless you want to be charged 400 plus for a dinner for 2 and served by children (his kids )

I had the chicken trio dinner, and my meal was super fresh and great. I will say i didn't like the Mac and cheese much, but the environment is great, and service is top tier. I would definitely go back

$570 Dinner for 2!!!!!????
I went to Ya Mon for dinner for two, hoping for a nice experience. When we arrived, the regular tables and chairs looked like something out of a hobbit’s home — tiny wooden tables and chairs that would’ve been uncomfortable for me, especially with my wide shoulders. So, I decided to sit in a booth instead.
That decision ended up costing me big time. My dinner bill came out to over $500, close to $600 — for just two people. It was my first date, so I had to swallow that one quietly without making a scene, but honestly, that price was shocking.
Overall, the vibe didn’t match the price tag. Great ambiance matters, but not when comfort and value are missing. Definitely not worth what I paid.

Yah Mon was a great experience. From the time I walked in the door. The service was amazing. The drinks a 10/10. The food was a 1000/10. I had the oxtails, curry goat, and jerk chicken with salad. The inside was set up very nice and had a good vibe with the music. I will definitely be back. Thank you for an amazing place to come eat some good island food and vibe too. 🥰

We walked out after a strange experience. No menus were available so we were referred to use our phones. Half of the menu was not available and it took 30 minutes to get drinks and water. The water was filthy and not filtered so we left. There are too many great restaurants in Tampa to put up with very slow service and unfiltered, undrinkable water. Had a great meal at On Swann.

Breathless!!!. This is more than a vibe it’s an experience like no other. Best hidden culinary gem. Drinks were tantalizing as a first crush kiss- gentle, a little visually exotic but wildly anticipated. The service IS the cherry on top of this seemingly clandestine culinary foodgasm. One serve/ host -only one needed and he made us feel like we were the only ones who he invited to dinner. ‘Yah Mon’ a true pleasure.
