We went to the visitor center to look for information and tour the museum. How disappointing it was to stand there for over 10 minutes without even being acknowledged by the man sitting at the desk. I decided to say hello but he didn't seem interested. He walked inside where a presentation was ending and that was our clue to leave. Hopefully others can get the information they need. We sure didn't ??
We visited on a Wednesday morning.
Everything was closed, not one person was on the street at 10:00 am.
Looks like a nice and cozy place but completely deserted in the morning.
If you want to know the lowlands of Tampa, it's fine. But abstain.
I love culture and history, so Ybor City was at the top of my to see list. There is a free tram that transports you to and from the city from various points across Tampa Bay, the riverfront area. We happened to be there during the Pride Parade, so that made it quite interesting. People were nice, with many food options and loads of culture. And, yes, there are plenty of chickens and roosters roaming around. Leave them be, and they will also leave you alone.
Did you know the YCDC has all kinds of information to share with you to make your Historic District even more of an experience in Culture and fun....it's not all about the bars and clubs at night.
There are so many new items to purchase made by local artist and representative of the local history and culture.
Such great history. Don't miss the movie
Great 5 minute video to learn about Ybor City and purchase souvenirs or gifts. They have everything rooster and very knowledgeable employees.
The location was well maintained. The information was very helpful. User friendly appral.
We Absolutely enjoyed our visit! Phil was a great host and throughly explained Ybor City, the prominent leaders and buildings. I really appreciate the time he took to circle must see places on the visitors map. The movie was awesome as well. Thank you Phil!
The lady in the center was so nice.

Very kind. Lots of great cigar labels! Love it.
Ybor City historic center has a number of places still open but it’s lost its old glory because of Covid, many shops and bars closed down. Remnants of the good times still open but deserted.
Well spoken tour guide
This place is such a blast and a real incredible piece of history. It feels like stepping back in time. There are many cigar shops, eateries, and night life places all over. There also is an interesting museum. The people here are usually super friendly and love to say hi. Interestingly there are stray chickens roaming around the city as well. This is a definite must see if you are travelling through the area.
Very friendly and informative!
