Chicanos Mexican Restaurant

Our go-to Mexican in Venice. Happy hour margaritas are top notch. Have taken multiple visitors there, and have never been disappointed. The salsa is excellent, we've purchased it multiple times. We will sometimes try another Mexican joint in town, always end up back here. I always say I'm not getting the fish tacos again, but have failed at least a half dozen times. They are great. I had to ask, and when they told me it was catfish, I could not believe it. They are sooo good. Very glad they survived covid days.

So, the food is amazing! It can be a fun environment! We have been twice, both times there was only 1 server. The wait time to place an order let alone receive an order is long. Some items get forgotten about when you're the only person serving. Some people got kind of frustrated with the server the 2 times we went, but they handle themselves very professional, giving and still happy! We will still come back, but would like to see super spicy hot sauce, and more attention to the table.

My family are here and were thoroughly displeased with the food. I had the carne asada tacos and the meat tasted and looked so odd that I questioned what I was eating. It gave me horrible stomach issues the next day. My family's meals were also very strange tasting. They also charged us extra for things like queso sauce that the menu said came with one of our meals. I love Mexican food but I recommend avoiding this restaurant.

The food is phenomenal! Service was good. The margarita was good but no alcohol in it. They fixed it when we told them it was very weak.

Food tasted just ok. Really disappointed as food use to be great. It taste canned or bagged fast food now. Music was so loud. Asked wait staff to turn it down w no luck. We were a larger party n would like to have talked. Not many people in restaurant which says a lot. Sorry. Use to be my go to place but not any more.

My favorite is the bean and cheese burrito. They don't smother it with sauce like all the other Mexican places. The beans are very tasty and the tortilla has great flavor as well.

We dined here on NY Eve and had such a delicious meal of enchiladas and chimichangas. The chips and salsa were fantastic, as were the margaritas.
The host /server was so welcoming and upbeat, and we can’t wait for a return visit - this week!

We were pleasantly surprised at how impressively good everything was here! The homemade salsa was special, no wonder they you can buy containers to bring home. Great selection of tasty and intriguing combinations for margueritas and the food was delicious. Very friendly service, too.

Skip the franchises and come to this melt-in-your-mouth delicious wonder of a restaurant. The chips are so light and addictive, and the salsa is first class velvety peppery yumminess. I had the chicken soup for lunch, and it was WORLD CLASS.
