We loved coming here for the gelato but last time when we stop by it was not good and so different. You can really taste the difference . I guess the new owners are using cheaper products . So sad

Horrible customer service. My mother and I walked into the completely empty shop and asked if we could get a sample of a strange flavor. The worker denied us and said “we don’t do samples.” We accepted that and sat down to wait for the rest of our party. Two adults, one with stubble on his face, walked in with a child. The man said to the worker “I want a sample” and the worker immediately gave him one. We asked if we could get a sample since they got one. The worker said no, it was only for kids. Except he handed the sample to the adult man with stubble who immediately ate the sample, not the child. The store was completely empty, and the worker was sitting down while we were there. He definitely could have given a sample. Will not be back.Edit: is it your policy to discriminate against women? The child never spoke. The adult male asked for the sample for himself as he clearly stated “I want this one” and ate it before my mother asked a second time for a sample. So it was okay for the adult male to get a sample but not a woman?

They have really good gelato, our favorite is their Stratacella, no complaints but their regular cup is to big for one person, it is two scoops. We used to be able to get two kids cups, which are one scoop, now they don’t allow it, it’s only for 12 years or under. This does not make sense from a business aspect since by buying two kids cups we were spending $10 now we share one regular and spend $6 in their store. They need to add a small to their menu.

My husband and I stopped in March the 10th and Evan was our server. That young man had 16 people in line waiting to be served. He remained calm, engaged, and very professional. The service is quick and even though the line was very long this young man handling all these people alone didn't excellent job. Don't know who the owner is but you are quite lucky to have him. And no I am not a family member I am from Indiana visiting the area and was quite impressed with your choice of employees. The young man is going to go somewhere in this life.

Wow, they have a great selection of artisan made Italian gelato. Italian gelato is version of the ice cream with creamier richer flavor. It really reminded me Itali this place is for everyone who is craving some true Italian gelato.

Such a fun little joint to grab gelato in downtown Venice. All of the flavors are so tasty and flavorful. You can grab and go; or sit down with friends and family to chit chat and enjoy tasty gelato. The establishment is small but cozy.

Ice cream parlor and coffee. You find it on the commercial avenue of Venice.Delicious flavors of ice cream and very good service. If you're around, stop by and try it.
Just so-so, at best!No wonder they don't offer to try before you buy!I am sure there are better spots around!

This is another place that uses extremely strong- smelling cheap cleaner such that the entire place reeks of it when you walk in. It’s totally intolerable to me and I am not a sensitive person.PLEASE use an unscented cleaner or diluted bleach.I applaud your attempts at cleanliness but I just find the level of fake scent that invades my nostrils even just passing by this place- to cause me a terrible headache. It actually makes me lose my appetite.

Not anymore. We've lived in Venice for 3 years, love to stop in to Ciao Gelato after dinner at Casariano's next door or just pop in on a hot day. One time while eating at the restaurant, my hubby asked for gelato and they suggested we grab a cup next door and bring it back to our table, while I enjoyed a glass of wine. Tonight, I was taken off guard - walked into the Ciao gelato shop and noticed the sign "no samples"; I asked if that was for real as I wanted to taste the Orange Creamsicle and a young girl shyly deferred to the owner. The answer was "no, we serve 500-800 a day, no samples since COVID". A bit stunned I said " i can't have a clean spoon just to taste it, we come often and want to try before buying." The answer was so cold "then if you come here often you surely have tasted it" Yikes! Everyone has a bad day, but somehow asking for a taste was treated like asking for free services - I was a bit stunned. Now seeing the same reply in other reviews, about serving hundreds of people - I realized this was the norm. I guess I looked shocked as the owner said "you want a sample - here" - but we decided "no thank you" and left. We went down the block and ordered a sweet treat at Venice Avenue Creamery where I ordered my Salted Caramel: I did ask if they have a Creamsicle and the young woman offered samples of an orange sherbet if I wanted to try it - which i declined! Venice Creamery was very kind, sweet and customer focused - with delicious cold creamy desserts. Ciao Gelato = No customer service and a bit rude; Maybe one day we will give it a go again, but not this season. I'll just walk down the block where they may not have Creamsicle to try but i'll be treated nicely.

My husband and I are true gelato fanatics. We were in Italy for a month and had no less than one a day and many days to a day. Every gelato shop in Italy would offer a sample of gelato. Every gelato shop that I’ve been to in the United States also will offer you a sample. We came in happy to try. Some gelato and young lady at the counter would not allow us to sample. She informed us that the store does not offer samples. As you know if you’re a gelato lover pistachio is the crown jewel of the gelatos only if made correctly that’s why I always sample it. My husband and I left without getting a gelato. It’s quite unfortunate for the store, because I always try and give the benefit of the doubt. In this case I will not be returning, nor will I bring any family members here. Sadly, I think the owner is Italian if it’s the same person owned it three years ago. He was very courteous and at that time did offer samples.
