Read the reviews on this place and it was close enough to where I stay so I took my adult family. The waiter was nice and quick on all that we wanted. The food was delicious and fresh. That atmosphere was really nice and there were a bunch of people inside for an early afternoon. I will definitely go back.

Darrell’s catered our community dinner this evening. We had brisket, pulled pork, shredded chicken, baked beans, Mac n cheese, and cornbread. Everything was delicious and all attendees loved the meal. As a bonus, Darrell brought us a platter of cookies which was really appreciated as we forgot to plan some sweets. Darrell deliver the food hot and on time. Will definitely have them cater another event.

The food and the service were fantastic. I had the haddock which was done to perfection. My husband had liver and onions which he said was excellent , and he’s really picky about that.

We catered Darrell's in for a GroundBreaking Event at CenterPointe Church. Darrel was a delight to work with, took very little time to set up the catering. Delivery was right on time, quick and perfection. We catered in Pulled Pork/rolls, mac and cheese & beans for 300 people. It was excellent from start to finish. If you need lunch or dinner out or catering I would absolutely recommend Darrell's Restaurant in Venice. You can't go wrong!

Went here for lunch about a year ago and it was excellent so when we were in town again, we did not hesitate to stop in. Totally different experience! Had the brisket which did not taste fresh nor did it taste smoked. It tasted like it has been boiled. Everything we ate tasted like the weeks leftovers or out of a jar. Very disappointing.

A come as you are, no frills , nice BBQ joint. Great food, drinks, and friendly service. I went with family and we shared various meats. The pulled pork, brisket, andualle were tender and juicy. Cornbread and sides were tasty too.

I ordered beef brisket and mistakenly ordered it ‘lean’, not realizing it wasn’t going to be as tender. I mentioned it to Gavin, our waiter, and without hesitation offered me something else. I got the chicken tenders and they were very good. Everything I had and everything my husband had was very good.

Place went super downhill. Used to love Darrells. Last time I went I got a brisket sandwich. Brisket was dry and the bread they put it in very obviously had mold. Shows a complete lack of quality control. Doubt I'll be coming back when I can find better food down the street.

We did take out for 8 folks. The only negative I would say was I was disappointed in the collard greens. In fact I would tell folks to skip them completely. However the ribs were great, along with sweet potato’s and cinnamon butter. The corn bread needs to adjust there mixing ration between wheat flour and corn. It currently lacks the solid corn bread flavor. Salad met anyone’s expectations. We will definitely order ribs and sweet potatoes again and make our own sides.

Dietary restrictions: No gluten free options with their corn bread.

Parking: Love their ribs!

Loved the chicken hearts. Brisket was chewy and came out luke warm - tasted like it came from a bag. None of their sauces are spicy which is extremely disappointing. Beer was poured into a really weird mason jar and had about 25% head. Collard greens are not seasoned and coleslaw is bland.

I had a lot of great food in Florida.. This is not one of them.

Having seen a review for this restaurant, we decided to give it a try. We were greeted upon entry and told to take a seat. Our server, Evan, was personable, knowledgeable, and very efficient. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich with Collard Greens. The amount of meat on the sandwich was very large and sh really enjoyed the greens. I had the brisket sandwich, again a large portion and very tasty. We recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit

I would put this at the Perkins of BBQ. Nothing was smoked. Brisket was this and floppy and Pulled pork was had no taste. Fried chicken was crispy no flavor. BBQ sauce, put in house squeeze bottle, was Sweet Baby Rays, while the "Hot" bbq Sauce wasn't. I will say the corn bread was good. Restaurant was all AARP when we were there. No taste BBQ, never had to salt fried chicken in my life until we ate there.

My wife and I ate at Darrell's last Sunday November 17th. Waiter was polite and the service was good. The food was average. Quarter dark chicken was very, very small for a lunch item. This would have been somewhat acceptable if the taste was outstanding, but it was not. The mac and cheese side dish (a favorite of my wife's) had no taste and was left behind. Her brisket was not very good either. We felt like we wasted our money.
