Service slow and restaurant looks fairly old and worn inside. I tried the baby back ribs, they were only okay. Kinda dry, put a combo of Gold Rush Bbq sauce + hot bbq sauce and it didn’t help. Had Mac and cheese along with pineapple cheese casserole on the side, both were okay. We didn’t leave hungry but our overall review was just mediocre.
Great service and food! One of the best ribs I’ve had!
Had the Brisket sandwich, it was terrible, they have no idea what BBQ Brisket is. It was dry and tasted like old roast beef. We have had Brisket many times in Texas, we know what good Brisket is.. My wife had the Pulled Pork sandwich, it was also dry.. The service was great and the sides were good. Last time going there.
This place is going downhill. Last time we had a very good experience but not this time . Poor food quality and poor service. Dried chopped bbq pork and dried chopped pork, soggy and cold French fries and cold cornbread . The Cole slaw was good . Being rushed by waiter . Poor service. Waiter took orders, 4 minutes later food was delivered and never saw our waiter again ! Very disappointed and will never go back . Waiters couldn’t care less if we were satisfied. The wipes were all dried out !
Couldn’t say anything negative about this place , Everything was next level amazing !!!!
I went here on July 4th and it was pa led! Luckily we weee able to get one of the only tables left. The chopped pork sandwich and bbq beans were so very delicious!
Another outstanding meal at Gold Rush. There were seven of us and the service by Erik Vazquez was outstanding. The food was delicious as usual. Best BBQ in town for sure. We also appreciate their support of Venice Football.
Not sure what’s going on we usually like the food but today the ribs were hard and dry. The chicken on my wife’s salad was also very thin and dry. I wasn’t going to write this but I noticed another review placed this month also saying it wasn’t that good. I hope they are not cutting back and using cheaper products because of inflation.
The parking lot was packed at 1:00 PM so that’s a good sign. Inside the place was pretty much full too. We were greeted and waited on promptly by a friendly server. We ordered our beverages and meals. The drinks came promptly but the food was pretty slow but we were in no hurry so no big deal. Coincidentally we both ordered smoked turkey sandwiches but with different sides. When they came each sandwich had 2 slices of grilled processed turkey (loaf maybe) on stale bread. It was edible but dry and witch no Smokey taste whatsoever. My side was cucumber salad which is chunk of cucumber drowning in Italian dressing. That was inedible. We ate, paid and left. We will try again but with something more BBQ mainstream. Disappointing…..
They serve my absolute favorite: Dry pulled pork upon which you place one of six BBQ sauces on. This is my perfect meal, and they do it well. I thought I ordered the baked beans, (turns out I didn't), but got the green beans. THEY ARE WONDERFUL! These are not your Mom's green beans.... Good corn bread, great cole slaw, big portions. This is my new favorite spot in Venice!

I know that this place is rated very high. I don’t get it. Friends went for a late lunch/early dinner. We order draft beers which came in iced mugs and were deliciously cold and inexpensive. We ordered BBQ spare ribs, BBQ; baby back ribs, BBQ chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, baked beans, corn bread. The spare ribs were fine. The baby back were almost meatless. The chicken was indelible due to being cooked to death. The collard greens tasted as if a whole bottle of vinegar fell into the pot. They had no ham hock or any meat flavoring. The macaroni had large penne pasta and tasteless sauce…too much flour. The corn bread was moist and very good. The restaurant is always busy at lunch and dinner times. It looks like the local like the place. We are from out of town and have tasted BBQ all over the states. This may be award winner in Florida, but it doesn’t stand a chance in the Midwest or West.
We have driven by this place so many times and it is always packed now I know why. My husband had ribs, Cole slaw, and baked beans. He said all were great. Ribs practically fell off the bone. Spice and smoke were just right. I had pulled pork and brisket. Both were very good. Next time I will request no sauce on top. I usually like sauce, but this Q did not need it at all. The flavor on its own was awesome. Service was outstanding. Prices were fair and it was super clean. Who could ask for anything more? We will be back.
My husband and son had the all you can eat spare ribs. They were pleased. I had several side dishes and enjoyed the mashed potatoes, green beans and corn casserole the most. Everyone says the pineapple cheese concoction is good but I didn’t care for it.
We've been half a dozen times. Food is always good at reasonable prices, service is attentive, and their namesake beer is cheap and tasty.
I have eaten here about twenty times or more and you get great value, lots of food, non-pretentious service and advice. Clean rest rooms. Friendly atmosphere. And lots of bang for your buck. This is a one of a kind family owned and operated institution that is worth going out of your way for. I recommend this restaurant highly. I'm from New Jersey and I recommend it to travelers.
