I would like to start out by saying I had a very nice dining experience at this restaurant while I was visiting Vero beach. I decided to go again the night before my departure. This evening was not so pleasant. I ordered a meal that was to say the least, not acceptable. I let my server know and she took it away. The side I chose to accompany my entree were the fried green tomatoes. They were ok. After she removed the original meal, I ordered a cup of soup. The server bought my soup and more fried green tomatoes which I assumed were complementary . Again, it was ok. No one likes to have to go through this, especially when you are expecting a nice dining experience. Anyhow, when I was presented my bill I was charged for the cup of soup AND TWO SIDE ORCERS OF GREEN TOMATOES!!! These were six dollars A PIECE! So my total was $19. I spoke to the hostess about it and she said that is what I was required to pay and that I could call and speak to the owner. I paid my ticket. I was not happy. I have since called and left several messages for the owner, Pat, to call me about the incident, to no avail. I am in the service industry, management. This is completely unacceptable. People work very hard for their money. When they go out they should receive exceptional service as well as exceptional food. Period. The shear fact thar the owner doesn’t care one bit is cause enough to avoid patronizing this establishment. Perhaps this review will get her attention.

Food was great, as usual. Unfortunately the service was not up to par. While our server was very pleasant, nothing came out until she had items for all 3 tables in her section. This made for unnecessary delays and annoyance. The worst was when I needed more water, but instead of bringing a pitcher to the table to refill, she took the glass. I was left with nothing to drink with my meal until she returned about 10 minutes later - again, she had clearly waited until she had items for her other tables.

Great location with great potential but lacks on food quality. Everything tastes premade or frozen. The atmosphere seems drab and dreary and the staff we encountered matched that same vibe. Some folks seem to like it and to each their own. Just wasn’t our cup of tea which was a shame because the location at the airport is great, just wish the food and atmosphere matched
Wow - worst Mac n cheese I have ever had. How can you ruin that? It was old - noodles were really soft and cheese was worse than Velveeta. The only thing worse I had were the canned green beans. I had the coconut shrimp and that was meh - straight from a frozen food box. Our friends couldn’t finish the meatloaf (not good). I guess a burger was passable and fries were ok.
At best, the dinner was mediocre. Ordered ham steak which was nothing more than two slices of ham about 1/8" thick, stacked together and thrown onto grill for a few moments. On top of which, dinners come with NO SIDES -- they have to be ordered separately and cost extra. The two sides ordered were Baked Beans and Mac & Cheese. The baked beans were right out of the can, the Mac & Cheese tasted like it, too, came right out of the Chef Boyardee can. What an expensive disappointment. Dessert DOES come with the meal, so I asked for a cup of coffee rather than dessert. The Answer? "No, coffee cannot be substituted for dessert." At $3.50 for a cup of coffee, all I can tell you is this: it tasted like it had been fresh-brewed 8 hours before. STAY AWAY!
***MISLEADING*** On the menu they have Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes. They are NOT Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes. They are simply pancakes (good pancakes) with pineapple chunks on top. They need to look up the recipe for the real thing and start following it or they need to rename what they have on their menu to the correct description of what they are selling. Very Disappointed.
This is a must visit!!! We found C.J.s on a day trip to the beach. It had good ratings and I loved the idea of watching the planes take off and land. It's wonderful!
We ordered appetizers, dinner, and dessert - everything we ordered was delicious. Amazing service, friendly staff, delicious food, excellent value for the money - ambiance is fantastic. Warm, cozy, quirky, inviting. I cannot say enough about how much we loved it.
What a great place. Stopped for lunch. Two of us had salads, two had versions of the grilled havarti on rye. Everything was fantastic and the staff is super friendly. And almost forgot, the fruit plate appetizer ... delicious!!!

Beautiful place to eat and watch the planes
You will love it here!! It shares a space with our wonderful small yet mighty airport. You can watch an array of the locals planes land while you eat. I recommend waiting for a window seat if it's your first visit. The owners and staff are lovely. It feels like you're at home and in a diner at the same time. The food is delicious as well. This is a gem of Vero Beach, definitely visit! Everyone loves to come here.
Very friendly staff! Large portions, very filling!
Complimentary: Corn Muffins & Biscuits
Ordered:
- Philly Cheesestake & Onion Rings
- Chicken Sandwich & Coleslaw
- Water & Ginger Ale
It would be helpful to include prices in your online menu. We will eat elsewhere.
We had a fantastic dining experience at CJ Cannon’s! We started with a kids’ meal for our granddaughter — I had a quick taste of the mac & cheese and chunky applesauce. The mac & cheese was smooth and creamy, while the applesauce was full of flavor — truly one of the best I’ve tried.
My wife had a salad with ranch dressing, which she really enjoyed. The ranch had a rich, homemade taste, and the overall salad was fresh and crisp.
The service was exceptional — Paula went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and taken care of. For the main course, I had the prime rib, which was cooked perfectly and is easily one of the best I’ve had in the area. The stuffed tomato was a unique touch and surprisingly delicious. My wife ordered the flounder stuffed with crab meat and couldn’t stop raving about it — she said it was absolutely out of this world.
CJ Cannon’s truly delivered a memorable meal with great food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!
