Half the place was open and they couldn’t seat us at 9am as we didn’t have a “reservation”. So we didn’t get to try them. Sad.

I’ve been a loyal guest at Hives for years, always charmed by the fabulous food and impeccable service. So you can imagine my utter shock when I was asked to leave while peacefully enjoying a cappuccino with my sleeping baby resting on me. Yes, I understand they were transitioning to dinner service, but honestly—to quote Madeleine Albright—“there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” Adding insult to injury, it was absolutely freezing outside. I’m truly dismayed and at a loss for words. It’s just so unlike the Hives I’ve come to adore.

Stopped by this place, after walking on the beach. We were dressed in casual clothing. I had no idea that it would be so formal in the evening. However, the staff was young and very friendly and did not make us feel uncomfortable because we were not dressed up for the evening meal. The food was delicious and our server had great suggestions. The coconut cream pie was to die for.

Nice atmosphere & good quality food. The chef inspired quiche was the best thing we tried! The potatoes are also really good :)

I don’t come here for the food bc it’s subpar and made with low quality ingredients.
But I love the vibe— so if you want a cutesy brunch with friends deff check it out

Their matcha is actually great (if you luck out with the barista that mixes it fully)
They burn their coffee so skip that
Any savory dish is boring and forgettable but the pancakes are super fluffy and can’t go wrong with a pastry.

First let me say I rarely leave a negative review of any restaurant. If I have a poor meal or substandard service, I chalk it up to experience and move on. Today’s experience at Hive restaurant in West Palm Beach however, deserves mention.
My party of 3 had a 12:45 reservation. Two of us arrived a little early and were seated at about 12:35 or so. The third guest, who I had not seen for 5 years, arrived at the appointed time (12:45). We ordered around 1 pm and we were served our meal in a timely manner. The food was quite good, the service was very good and the atmosphere was festive. At about 1:40, less than an hour after our reservation time, an employee came to our table holding an acrylic frame with the “rules” regarding how long one can stay at the table. According to this woman, one hour and 15 minutes was the limit. She explained that they were backed up and there was no room at the front door for those waiting. The most annoying part of this was that one of my guests had still not finished her dessert. Understandably, my guest was offended by this request to vacate the table, and she let the employee know that she was still eating her cookie. Her response was that we could stay for 5 more minutes. No thank you. We had only been there for around an hour!! We left the remaining dessert and departed at 1:50. As I exited, I glanced at the front door, I saw no one crowding the entrance?
As a retired small business owner, I knew that my success was dependent on how I treated those whom I served. This was an embarrassing experience for me and my guests, and a poor ending to an otherwise good experience. Restaurant owners who forget who is responsible for their success is doomed to eventually struggle. I hope you take this as constructive criticism.

Very well impressed overall. My wife had an excellent fish, our guest the pork tenderloin which was juicy, tasty and cooked to perfection, and I had a memorable burger. Service was very friendly and accommodating, atmosphere very calm and nice. Good value for the money. I’ll definitely come back

Hive Bakery - 4/5 Stars

Hive Bakery is… a bit of a “mixed bag,” but it’s an experience. The food is “ok” for the price—it’s essentially Denny’s dressed up in fancier plating. Nothing wrong with that, but if you’re coming here for a culinary awakening, you might be disappointed. Where Hive really shines is the bakery. Their baked goods are undeniably fresh and crispy, and honestly, that’s the real reason to come here.

That said, the experience has its quirks. The wait times were long, even though there were multiple tables sitting empty inside. I assume those were reserved, but I can’t speak on any favoritism. My wife and I ended up sitting outside, which was actually a nice option. You can order through their app, and they’ll bring the food right to your table, which I thought was pretty cool. The outdoor area and decor were nice too—definitely a charming atmosphere.

But… the service? Let’s just say the staff could use a little more training. For example, I ordered a macchiato and got a straight espresso shot instead. My tarragon chicken sandwich mysteriously turned into curry chicken, which made me laugh—I’m Indian, so it was almost like the kitchen was telling me to “stick to my roots.” Fair enough, Hive, fair enough.

Overall, I’d give Hive Bakery a solid 4 out of 5. The app service and bakery items elevate the experience, but the inconsistent customer service and mix-ups hold it back. There are other bakeries out there with just as much flair that offer better value for your money. That said, if you’re looking for some great pastries and don’t mind a few hiccups, Hive is worth a try.

Really nice bakery and restaurant. It was not a large menu, but the food was fresh and delicious. The bakery was amazing. Everyone was friendly. I would make a reservation next time. They have indoor and outdoor dining.

Vegetarian options: They make all the dishes, so if you have allergies, just let them know.
