Pistache French Bistro is a downtown location with a cozy atmosphere that offers a genuine French dining experience. The restaurant features a beautiful decor that makes guests feel like they are in Paris. The bread served is delicious, with a crisp crust and sweet butter that many find irresistible. The menu includes popular items such as Croque-monsieur, Croque-madame, French fries, cheese and charcuterie plates, Black Truffle pasta, and Mahi mahi, which are well-liked by diners. The setting is beautiful, especially on the patio, providing a lovely outdoor dining experience. However, indoor seating can be extremely cold, so guests are advised to bring jackets or shawls.
Service at Pistache has received mixed reviews. Some visitors mention that waiters need to pay more attention, especially regarding bringing bread, butter, or water, and avoiding interrupting conversations across the table. Proper etiquette, such as not removing plates until everyone has finished, is also expected. Despite these issues, the overall atmosphere remains authentic and charming.
Recent visits have seen some changes in the menu, with items like Scallops, Tartiflette, and Raclette no longer available. The quality of some dishes varies; Croque-monsieur, Croque-madame, French fries, and cheese and charcuterie plates remain excellent, as does the Black Truffle pasta and Mahi mahi. Some dishes, such as Escargots and Spanish octopus, are considered OK but not outstanding, while others like the steak frites, petit lamb shank, cauliflower gratin, duck mousse, and foie gras have received criticism for their heaviness, quality, or texture.
While overall dining at Pistache can be a delightful experience, reservations do not always guarantee availability of the brunch special. The restaurant's layout can be impractical for couples, with limited tables for two, and some dishes, like the charcuterie board, have lost their former charm. Despite some setbacks, many guests find the restaurant to be a lovely spot for special occasions and enjoy the authentic French vibe.
