We actually had a fabulous dinner and fabulous waitress Jessica. She was wonderful. Couldn’t have asked for better food or service. Until the time the bill came. Now, let me preface this by saying, I have worked in the food industry for 10 years. So to write a negative review or respond poorly to service received is very very rare. However, there is a time and place for everything. I went on vacation to San Diego to visit family, and they had previously given me gift cards to prep kitchen as gifts. Being that I am from the East coast I do not get here as often as I would like, so the chance to use these gift cards are limited. When it came time to pay for our meal, our waitress took our gift cards. When she came back, she told us our gift cards were no longer useable here because they had recently (within the last year) been bought out by different ownership. Now I understand that, but the gift card was still for “prep kitchen” so according to my judgment, there should be some sort of compensation for the inconvenience. The name was still under the same name, despite different management. So they should have honored the gift card in some respect. We weren’t initially bothered by the whole ordeal until the next few minutes progressed. No manger came to touch the table. No one even acknowledged us at that point. We were not compensated a drink, not an app. Nothing. I don’t ever go out expecting free things, not do i ask for them, but I am a server and I know what proper customer service etiquette is. And after this experience, I can tell you, now I know why we were only 2 of 4 people seated in that dining area. When you go out to eat, you want to leave with a great impression. People will remember that. Whether they live close by or live across the world. We had a great experience and ultimately were left with such a bad taste that we will never ever return. I know management wasn’t too busy where they couldn’t have atleast touched the table. There’s not excuse for that. As a manager, that is part of your job. So when it’s that slow, it’s inexcusable. The only thing we were told following our attempt at using our gift cards was that we needed to go to other restaurants that the new management had apparently taken over. Honestly, it felt as if management knew we weren’t from the area and just said “F U”. We were so confused by the lack of costumers until that very moment. You get what you give.
Wonderful seasonal menu for food and drink, great service and ambiance, with various views depending on location. Wonderful place for an intimate outing or group entertaining. Love it!
The Prep Kitchen in San Marcos was a phenomenal evening spot to share and craft cocktail and a delicious meal! Friendly and engaging staff made for a excellent introduction to the some of the best classics cocktails I’ve had in the area. Shout out to Chris, Joey, and the Manager Luc! highly recommended!
