OK. Tropics is not where you go for a mind blowing meal. The food OK. The service is top notch with this very experienced staff. The entertainment is also top notch. So if you're looking for a good time with a mediocre yet affordable meal, Tropics hits the spot. Stay for the Cabernet show on select evenings for even more fun and drinks. The bar staff is also on it...always keeping our drinks coming and full despite a very busy space. Wine pours are also on point, but the wine selection isn't great.

So I have been enjoying Tropics since I moved to Fort Lauderdale over a year and a half ago. My friends and I have always enjoyed the music and dinner until tonight. Tonight, I frequented my friend's art exhibit across the street and I decided to go to Tropics to get a light meal on a Monday and go home. After my meal, I went into the smaller lounge to hear some music. I had a brief discussion with some guy who said he was an operatic star and after I asked a few questions, he acted like I was some sore of freakish fan who wanted to know everything about him. So I cut off the conversation as appropriate and told him that I thought he was paranoid. After that, my bartender decided I was no longer welcome and found a way to push me out of the bar without any justification. I did nothing wrong. Apparently, Tropics has a specific code that protects people that they care about. Well , nobody should be treated like this and I plan on making a big deal about it. You can protect who you want but not at risk of mistreating other customers. if you don' make this right, I will make sure that other people understand the discrimination that is happening here. So, your choice, continue the mistreatment or make this right. Respectfully, Rick

Two friends and I had dinner here last night. I had not eaten there in a while, but i always enjoyed it. Last night was not one of those enjoyable occassions. We were sat in a comfortable both and placed orders for cocktails, with our waiter who also said he would bring waters right away. There was no problem with the cocktails, nor the fish and chips 2 of us had. Well potato logs are not chips (french fries) but they were pretty good. We finally got our water after asking another server for them. We were almost finished eating. THEN came the check. I had ordered on vodka on the rocks. It was fine, but i was charged $1.00 for ice. WTF? The waiter disappeared after delivering our credit cards back and it was then i noticed the $1. for ice. I said nothing to anyone but i am spreading the word now. If you go, ask if there is a charge for ice, when ordering a drink ON THE ROCKS. Unbelievable. I live and work here in Wilton Manors. Not smart of them to pull such a petty thing.

I just had the chicken franchise it had to be the most tasteless meal I've had in a long time. Thank God for the bartender. Who made the night pleasurable.

I always love tropics. However, their new entertainment schedule has really become pretty bad this past year. They have taken good musicians off their schedule who have been there for years (Tony and Gloria) and shifted Ruben to every Wednesday to now only two Wednesdays in September. I’m not a fan of Rick Leonard. He is on the schedule 11 times in September. He is a good accompanist but has horrible energy and uses too much foul language. One wonders why management is allowing someone who turns away their regulars get so many days on schedule. I owned a piano bar for many years. My regulars got me through the slow months and that was because of consistency of the musicians we had on a regular basis. There was only one day a week we had a rotating schedule. I don’t get their thinking. I will continue to go only on days when certain musicians are there. Which is sad because it’s a great place to bring guests and for my spouse and I for a date night. For me, there is no reason for a pianist to use foul language. It’s a cabaret dining restaurant not a place where one expects to hear the f word or calling people female dogs as Leonard constantly does. This has lowered the level of class for tropics. I’m disappointed in the direction they are going and hope they will listen to their regulars.

Went on Sandwich & Burger Night. Wonderful burgers, service was great. Nice atmosphere with comfortable booths. And really good prices.I suppose the restroom might be a strange thing to talk about, but there's lounge chairs in there so, that's pleasantly weird.2nd visit: same burgers, but we also shared a Hummus & Pita Points plate. It was wonderful.

Arrived few minutes early for 6 pm reservation for 4. Host had no record of our reservation. Seated in cabaret action at six. We were literally the 3rd table seated. The waitperson took drink orders then our order for appetizers. Wouldn’t tell us the dinner specials. Kept saying she had to seat others. Then she came back but again said she had to “take care of others.” All tables turned around us. I called them on the phone then the manager came and accused us of causing the delay because we”ordered late”! REALLY???? We finally got served 2 + hours after we arrived. Never again. Food was okay.

I returned one more time. I had not been here in 6 months or more. I was hoping the food improved. It has not. I was disappointed since I enjoyed this place years ago on vacations. I would like to see them thrive. I guess I will wait for new owners before I consider returning. The place needs a transformation. The service was good. The bar was busy. I believe there was only one other couple in the restaurant.

We went here for dinner and a few cocktails during on a week night outing. Sat at the bar and ordered drinks and the zucchini fries. I do not like zucchini, I hate them BUT these were so freaking AMAZING!Cocktails are on the smaller side but it is a restaurant not a gay bar on the strip LOL. For dinner we ordered the veggie burger and the New York strip with mashed potatoes and vegetable. The only negative I have is 15 minutes after we ordered were told they did not have any veggie burgers left. When I asked what else do they offer for a vegetarian the only suggestion they had was a salad. The greek salad is what I ordered and I am glad I did. This is a huge salad and so tasty. My friend that ordered the NY steak said this was one of the best steaks he has ever had. The mashed potatoes were like silk and buttery. The ambiance reminds me of those classy piano supper restaurants they had in the 80's. Service was prompt and attentive, we will definitely be going back.

My husbands steak was so bad they took it off the bill, his side was only carrots because they ran out of green beans, side was called green bean and carrot. Our Buffalo wings had zero sauce meaning just plain wings. It was beyond a waste of time and money. I had chicken parmigiana sauce tasted like cheapest jar sauce ever. Horrible.

Had date night on Saturday we live the place the vibe is friendly food is great prices are reasonable and the entertainment is amazing! We had made reservations but was disappointed with the table as it was away from the piano and the entertainment. So we had asked to move can you believe they picked up the table and moved it to an open spot next to the piano. I was WOWED! OMG most impressive act of customer service I have ever experienced! The wait staff was awesome everything was just perfect! Making this one of our favorites! Highly recommend and the host was a piece of eye candy! Don't miss this place!

It had been nearly a year since I dined at Tropics and a friend suggested it for Sunday eve. Knowing it would be quieter than weeknights, I agreed. It was a convivial crowd, but once again the food is just not good. My friend ordered the escargot which, while properly garlicky, are served with so much "leafy greens" that any flavor these canned escargot may have had is lost. Ah well at least they were tender. I opted for mussels ... served with a flavorless cream sauce and white beans ... just dont ... dont even try ... my friend ordered the glazed duck and if you could avoid the sauce, you'd have a very tasty meal ... the meat was moist and tender, perfectly cooked. My steak on the otherhand (boneless rib eye) ordered at medium RARE, was kind of almost faintlyl pink ... over salted ... a nice tender cut, generously portioned, sadly ruined by the kitchen. I was tempted to send it back, but it had taken the kitchen quite some time and we were getting weary. Kudos to our waiter Jim for his cheerfulness and attentive service. As always, he was a welcoming and efficient server.
