We use Open Table frequently and while the servers are normally very good, Ashley at Matthew's Steakhouse is exceptional. She is knowledgeable, personable, and very determined to make your dining experience a five star event. Our hats off to Ashley!

The food was excellent. The server was attentive and professional. I would have expected a little more welcoming attitude from the hostess and more acknowledgement of the birthday that we were celebrating. They definitely don't offer anything other than a candle in the dessert you pay for. For a party of 4 and a tab of $500 I would have expected at least a free birthday item.

Food was good... but completely over priced for what you get. Chefs table can raise prices for this competition. Service was great... Ashley is amazing. But food was adequate ... and subpar for the price.

Matthew's is a nice steakhouse for the area. The steaks were a bit bland with no real flavor. The cuts (prime rib and filet) were unusual in appearance. I've been there a few times while traveling through for business but this past one will be the last. The food and wine were overpriced for the market and not nearly as good as other nearby chain steak houses like Capitol Grill and similar So, mediocre food at high prices is not the best combination. The MOST AGGRAVATING ISSUES WERE THE NEW CHARGES FOR PRE-DINNER BREAD AND THE "SURPRISE" 3% SURCHARGE FOR PAYING WITH A CREDIT CARD. With the high prices charging additional for bread and butter is an insult. I paid approximately $500 to take a client to dinner and was embarrassed when I saw the charge for bread and butter. Not a big deal but an INSULT when paying that much for dinner. I don't usually review the bill in detail but when I saw the "Surcharge" for 3% of the bill. I asked the server what it was for. She said that it was for using a credit card instead of cash. This should have been well communicated before presenting the bill and the option for cash provided. Very suspicious way to tack on another surcharge without the diner knowing. What's next 20% automatic mandatory tip? You're not in Manhattan guys. BTW, Our server Nicole was FANTASTIC. Not recommended.

A disappointing experience from the appetizer to the dessert. The porterhouse ($75) was a choice thin-cut that was very under seasoned and came out raw. The herb butter was also lacking flavor and was likely made with dried herbs. The potato was simply a potato without any salt crust, butter, chives or anything that you would expect from a steak house. The cheesecake was decent but clearly bought in bulk and not prepared at Matthew’s. Not exaggerating - the food was on par with Applebees, not a fine dining restaurant that belongs in downtown WG.

Visited yesterday was very disappointed in the quality of the steaks and food - there are MUCH better steak restaurants this is horribly overpriced for what it is - we went because it's local to us in Windemere it was always hard to get in so was surprised to see opening on open table so we took the plunge - big mistake! I had the NY and colossal shrimp - the shrimp were very ordinary small tasteless ( joke ) the steak thin unlikely to be prime not well seasoned ( cooked over fire that was nice ) and a very small baked potato. For two of us 1 starter 1 desert ( horrid tiny cheesecake picture attached ) 330$ worse money / time meal I have had in long long time - the restaurant was half full on a Friday I don't think long before it's empty - if your the owner reading this please wake up change your ingredients try and give value for money - you have well meaning staff - the foods not good enough prices too high - your better off going to any other steak restaurant I have been to them all this is the worse- tasteless expensive - nothing special at all.

Heard many good things about Mathews restaurant, but was very upset during and after our meal. The service and ambiance was nice, but all our food was over seasoned ( crunchy , like they dumped a whole jar on it ) all of our steaks were either under cooked or bloody, for a well and medium well steak. We did have them take it back but was still underdone. Then they poured a shot glass of wine then poured that into our wine glasses. Later come to find out the business was sold, not original owners and obviously they have cooks not chefs, definitely not worth what they charge and should not be able to keep the restaurant name for it is misleading to those who don’t know it was sold.Parking: Got a spot up front, thought we were lucky, but it wasn’t that busy.

Overall this restaurant is way overpriced. We do enjoy fine dining and don't mind paying for what we get. Filet was dry, ribeye bland but a nice cut of meat, grilled shrimp was good as was the branzino. Our server was personable and attentive. Our meals were not served together. Branzino came out long before the other dinners, then 2 steaks, and lastly the shrimp. I ordered a French press coffee which was very good but was served with the creamer capsules like I was in a diner. The grand finale was getting slammed with a 3% surcharge for using a credit card! The total for the four of us was about $500. Like I said, we are always willing to pay for quality but this experience was under par. Won't be going back.

This was my 4th or 5th visit since the new owners took over about a year ago and as always the food, wine and service was excellent. We had a most enjoyable evening and would highly recommend this restaurant.

I recently dined at Matthew's for a large group dinner. We were pleasantly surprised as guests that they were able to accommodate a group of almost 30 people!! The restaurant is reservations only as well. Parking at the restaurant was a little tricky. There are available lots and garages, but we happen to come the same day as another event downtown, which made finding a place to park a tad bit more difficult. No valet was offered either. Based on other reviews, I think this was more of a unique experience, even members of our party mentioned that parking isn't usually that bad. Upon arriving and getting initial drinks and apps the servers were very good! Because of our party size, we had multiple servers assisting us. They were very kind and welcoming. The restaurant itself is smaller, but has a cozy feel to it! We had to preselect our entree prior to the event, but we noticed that the entrees were not confirmed with anyone, and those of us that ordered steak, were never asked what temperature we wanted it cooked at. I personally prefer my steaks more well, and when my (very little) steak came out it was charred on the outside but rare on the inside. A lot of people in the group got the steak, and each steak was cooked differently. There was little consistency on size and the temperature (rare, medium, or well) of the steaks being served. It took sending it back multiple times to get it cooked appropriately, but the servers and manager were very patient and understanding to those of us who had to send our steaks back to get refired. I know it would have been a little more work upfront, but had the servers come to confirm everyone's entrees and the temperature they wanted their steaks at, this easily could have been avoided and would have made the dining experience much more enjoyable. The food was really good (once everything was cooked more appropriately)! Portions were on the smaller side, but everything we had was tasty!! I think one of my favorite things of the meal was the garlic butter that was served with the steak, truly so yummy!! Overall our experience was fairly good and I would consider coming back again!

The ultimate fine dining experience and a 1 of 1 gem!My wife and I have eaten at a lot of great steakhouses in Central Florida over the years and Matthew’s rivals them all. There’s such an attention to detail and intention to provide a quality experience that you really appreciate and seldomly get at most places nowadays. It was our 5 year anniversary a couple months ago and I wanted to try a new (to us) steakhouse; it did not disappoint and far exceeded our expectations. My wife is a tough critic but she raved about her filet as well the bottle of wine the Chef/Sommelier suggested which paired perfectly with our steaks. It literally was the perfect night!Special thanks to the Chystal and Chef Eddie for making this anniversary the most memorable yet. Looking forward to date nights and special occasions @Matthews!

My husband made reservations for us to celebrate our anniversary. Our waiter was nice but never told us til the end that we had the option to have soda. Only thing on the menu literally showed lots of wine and limited beer. Was told the garlicbutter for the steak was free. The meal was ok, but me personally, just not impressed. Might be high class place but didnt feel it.

Food excellent, selection limited, and be careful with the red wine list. There are 3 prices....bottle, glass and ounce. I did not realize the last figure was for ounce {never saw that in a restaurant before} and purchased 2 glasses (husband and myself) of wine at $38.00 each.Yikes!!! Overall rating is OK.

This past visit wasn't quite as good as our previous visits. When we went in October 2023 I thought the meal was amazing. But our visit in Feb 2024 it was just good. Not exactly sure what changed, but we just weren't as impressed as we have been in past visits.
