I only visited gyro coffee for their Turkish Doner which is made with real unprocessed meat unlike gyros in US. It wasn’t bad at all. We liked the wrap more because of its sauce.
I had a chance to try their döner plate. I heard that they have a new döner master and wanted to give a try. Döner taste was close to Döner point in Paterson, NJ. That would be good if they offered Tombik döner style too. Overall I will go back to get more döner. It is conveniently located next to Taco Mac.

After trying Gyro Cafe’s new döner, I can say that it is one of the few döners I have had in the US that captures the traditional Turkish palate. The taste, presentation and quality of the döner were truly impressive. It is really hard to find the richness and taste of Turkish cuisine in the US, but Gyro Cafe’s döner has managed to fill that gap. Thank you for bringing this flavor to our doorstep. I highly recommend it!

We wanted to love this place and after every bite I tried to tell myself it isn’t that bad… no, no, it is not bad at all. But I just couldn’t do it. The food is just sub par. Nothing in this restaurant seems fresh. I noticed some other reviewers mention this same thing. We suspect the hummus had actually gone bad, it had a sharp tangy (not like lemon) taste, we couldn’t even eat it. Spanakopita was super greasy (see pictures) The gyro slices were pre cut and stale. Although the Greek salad was in fact fresh, it was underwhelming both from portion size and from ingredient perspective for a $10 entree. The grilled chicken was cooked on a griddle fresh to order, but the taste was mediocre. Do not expect the truely grilled taste. I really tried to like this restaurant, but there is too much to overlook and fix for us to give it another try. I hope they have a step change in quality and make this place what it truly can be with care and pride.
