Food is terrible, tasteless and low quality. Location and restaurant is located on rundown parking lot. Not a single person there. This should have been a sign not to eat there. The reviews are misleading. Waitress was pleasant that is about the only one good thing about this place.

I’ve gone here before and the food was good, came back on cinco de mayo and it was horrible. Went to go sit outside and was waiting for 20+ minutes with no one asking me for drinks or even chips. Everyone around us was talked to and ordered except me. Told one of the waitresses and she said she would get someone. Waited some more time and no one came, I ended up leaving with no food and a bad time. I understand it’s going to be busy but it is never that busy that you can ignore people.

My last visit to Rio Balsas Taqueria was extremely disappointing and uncomfortable, and it had nothing to do with the food. The main issue was the server, whose behavior was rude, dishonest, and unprofessional from start to finish.
From the moment we were seated, the server had an attitude—short responses, eye-rolling, and a clear lack of interest in doing his job. Simple questions were met with annoyance, and we felt rushed the entire time even though the restaurant was not busy. Instead of making us feel welcome, he made it clear we were an inconvenience.
The worst part happened after we left. When checking the receipt later, we noticed a huge tip added that we absolutely did not authorize. We did not write or approve that amount, yet it appeared on our final charge. It felt deceptive and dishonest, especially considering how poor and rude the service had been. As customers, we trust that our payment is handled accurately and ethically, and this experience completely broke that trust.
What made this even more upsetting was the feeling that the server knowingly took advantage of us after we had already left and could not immediately address the issue. Whether intentional or due to negligence, this should never happen, and it reflects very badly on the restaurant’s management and oversight.

Rio Balsas Taqueria is a great spot. The food was fresh and flavorful, the tacos were especially good, and the service was friendly and quick. It has a relaxed, comfortable vibe, and I'm glad sto pped in. Definitelya place I'd come back to.
