Last Saturday night at The Velvet Note was nothing short of a vibe. The Sade experience delivered exactly what you hope for—and more—when you walk into an intimate jazz lounge expecting sophistication, soul, and timeless music.
From the moment you enter The Velvet Note, the atmosphere sets the tone: cozy, elegant, and effortlessly grown. It’s one of those rare venues where the room feels close enough to breathe in the music, yet polished enough to feel like a true night out. The lighting, seating, and acoustics all work together to create an experience—not just a performance.
The Sade tribute was beautifully executed. Smooth, sultry vocals paired with a tight, talented band captured the essence of Sade without feeling like imitation. It honored her music in a way that felt authentic, romantic, and deeply soulful. Songs flowed seamlessly, pulling the audience into that unmistakable Sade mood—calm, seductive, and emotionally rich. You could feel the crowd leaning in, fully present, soaking up every note.
What really stood out was the intimacy. There was a connection between the performers and the audience that made the night feel personal, almost exclusive. It felt like a shared moment rather than a show you were just watching.
Service was attentive and respectful of the music—no distractions, no rushing—just smooth, professional hospitality that matched the elegance of the evening. The crowd itself added to the magic: mature, stylish, and clearly there for the love of good music.
If you’re looking for a place that delivers grown-and-sexy energy, live music done right, and an unforgettable night out, The Velvet Note absolutely delivers. The Sade experience last Saturday was soulful, classy, and worth every moment. I’d do it again in a heartbeat. 🎶✨

Let me preface this by saying I had dinner before the event, so my review is primarily based on the performance—and wow, they truly tore the roof off during the holiday segment I attended.
Each performer brought an incredible level of talent, delivering their notes with such beauty and intention. It was an absolute treat and perfectly captured the spirit of the holiday season.
The ambiance of the venue is small and quaint, creating an intimate setting that complements live music well. While there is a food menu available, I opted for strawberries and water to keep things light.
Overall, the live musical experience was absolutely worth it and added just the right touch of holiday cheer.

What a great surprise to find such a cool intimate venue in the Burbs with a NYC Village vibe. Great acoustics and with Russell Gunn band what more could you want?

We celebrated our 26th anniversary at The Velvet Note, and Tamara, the owner, rolled out the “velvet” carpet for us! What a fantastic choice! Tamara and Cole managed to squeeze us in for last-minute tickets to the Sade show, which was sold out. Everything went smoothly. The show was incredible! The service was exceptional, and I want to express my deepest gratitude for the shout-out by the band Adu. It was an amazing time, and we will cherish the memories forever.

My excitement about visiting The Velvet Note was unfortunately overshadowed by a deeply disappointing experience regarding a recent show cancellation.
First, I am very frustrated that my mother-in-law, who purchased the tickets, is still waiting to receive her refund for the cancelled show. The delay in processing funds after a cancellation is unacceptable and tarnishes the customer experience.
The official reason given for the cancellation was a lack of online ticket sales. While I understand the need to hit sales targets, this reasoning felt confusing and disproportionate given the venue's size. From what I can tell, the space is relatively small, which suggests that relying solely on pre-sales might not be the most appropriate metric for a growing, local venue.
I am truly saddened that The velvet note did not provide a new band the opportunity to grow its audience and leverage in-person sales. Many attendees planned to purchase tickets on-site, and allowing the show to go forward might have resulted in both a successful night for the band and a better experience for patrons. In fact, relying more on day-of ticket sales might be a better operational choice in the future, as it would prevent customers from being caught in a lengthy refund waiting process.
I was genuinely excited to add this venue and its restaurant to my list of favorite places to visit, but this entire process has regrettably lowered my overall view of the establishment's organization and commitment to supporting new artists.
We hope the refund is processed immediately, and that the venue re-evaluates its cancellation policies for smaller acts.
It's a wonderful club with spectacular music and great food. The food service is strange though. The servers are polite, but frequently either bring the wrong dishes, or come back 15 minutes after taking an order to say that they are out of what you ordered. It's not a big problem because the place is so much fun, but still feel that the service needs to be more organized.

I usually don’t post reviews like this — supporting local businesses is something I genuinely value. When I have a good experience, I love to share it. But I also believe it’s important to speak up when an experience goes the other way, and unfortunately, The Velvet Note in Alpharetta, GA is one of those cases.
I purchased two tickets to see a band that was scheduled to perform, but the show was later canceled. I reached out to request a refund and was told via text message that it would be processed — and yes, I still have those messages. However, not only have I not received my refund, but there’s also been no follow-up — no call, no text, no email.
I’ve tried to be patient, but at this point, I feel like I’m being taken advantage of. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone against doing business with The Velvet Note. The lack of professionalism is disappointing, and if I could give less than one star, I absolutely would.

Very intimate setting for jazz - having the band come to your living room. Gets very crowded, standing room only. Arrive early if you want to sit. Would give higher rating if seats could be secured. I am too old to stand for hours.

So I visited with about 12 friends for a girls night out. The Afro-Caribbean band was amazing it was a vibe for sure. The food was just okay definitely not worth the price when there are so many better options around for the price. The setting is small and intimate which adds to the vibe but you will be sitting close to your neighbor so make sure you're fresh. I will visit again because the musicians are amazing but I will eat somewhere else.

The venue is too small for the mass of people they entertain. However the warm atmosphere is cool, I wish it was bigger to be more comfortable. You have to squeeze by people just to go to the restroom.
Service wonderful each employee made you feel like a rock star. The food was tasty could be bigger portions but it was satisfying.
