This was our first time to Chucks and we now know why it is the most popular food establishment in downtown Athens. Food was delicious, various cocktails were enjoyable and best sushi in town! I would recommend getting there earlier, as they do not take reservations and can easily get up to 3.5 hour waiting time. Also , dining area is basically in one large room and it gets loud so not ideal if you are wanting an intimate date night.Parking: The university has several lots available to the public for nominal fee across broad street. Very easy walk to the restaurant.

Damn fine sushi, good service and a nice atmosphere. I say at the counter where I could watch the sushi made and was impressed with the diligence and professionalism. I had the submarine rolls, and it was top notch.

Absolutely horrible hostesses! They told us it was a 3 hour wait, then proceeded to tell us it was a 2.5 hour wait after 2 hours of waiting. They need to take reservations!!!! Don’t promise service you cannot provide! Train your hostesses better!

Food is amazing but tonight made me hate this restaurant! We got there at 6:00 and were told me have a 3 hour wait. When we checked back after almost 2 hours they told us it was an additional 2.5 hours. I watched the hostess seat her “friends” first above anyone else. Absolutely horrible! I will never be back! If you can’t provide excellent service, CLOSE your doors! TAKE RESERVATIONS!!!

For starters we ordered Edamame. We had Fried Gulf Shrimp, with fries and coleslaw as well as Roasted Shrimp & Feta. Both dishes were very good. Nice quiet environment outside with heaters and Dave was exceptional as our server. We’ll be back for sushi next time.

Locals seem to like this place. Tried three times, not sure what kind of vibe they are after, but nothing is real exciting. Not bad but middle of the road with high price tag.

The Gumbo was delicious - but everything was way overpriced. We had two people- and our bill was $96. One beer- but no other drinks-I had water. Gumbo was $18 for a bowl and $8 for a cup. The entree was disappointing - although the fish of the day was prepared well - the plate consisted of the fish, FIVE slices of squash, and about 1/2 cup of rice. my husband requested his fish to be fried- but was told the kitchen was unable to prepare it that way "today"... although There were other fried entrees on the menu. I had salad as my entree. Nothing special. Even the addition of some crusty bread would make a big difference. This was our second time there- but we won't be going back. Disappointing considering the price.

We have eaten at Chuck’s on numerous occasions. CHUCK’S NEVER DISAPPOINTS! Bar none the best gumbo around. The Kenji Roll is so so good! Everytime we go we will always order these two things. Drinks from the house cocktail list are spot on. Perfectly mixed! They also have great standard drinks like cosmo’s and JC’s. Staff is perfect. Attentive but not in your business. I had the Seared sesame tuna for the first time tonight and it was fantastic. Catch of the day was mahi and grouper. There’s always something good in the daily specials.

I’ve been here before and really enjoyed it which is why I suggested it to my best friend for her 21st birthday. We came in and were sat but continued to sit for 30+ minutes without being greeted by our waiter. We made sure someone let him know we were there and still he never came. Not even for a drink order or introduction to say that it would take him a minute to get to us. On top of that, he visited the table beside us twice despite the fact that they were sat after us. We’re all understanding people and we were willing to wait but I genuinely can’t believe that we were never greeted by our server. We decided to leave to make sure she got a birthday dinner but I regret suggesting it in the first place. I hope to visit again and have a different experience because I really don’t want this to be a lasting impression of this place.
