Everything about this place is absolutely lovely! Starting with the fact that the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The staff were super friendly, very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious too! Can’t wait to come back here in the future. Also, there seem to be a lot of people that the staff knew which also indicates it’s a restaurant that people continually come back to because it’s so good and beautiful! Thank you, Gus and team for being accommodating with my food requests!

Overall, wonderful dinner. The server was fantastic and kind. Corn bread was delicious. Highly recommend along with the cheese board. Friend catfish and steak could have used more salt or some seasoning to complement the protein, but overall it was good. The carrot cake and chocolate cake were delicious.

The atmosphere was cozy and energetic. Nice place for an upscale dinner.

Parking: it is extremely limited so plan ahead.

If you're looking for a dining experience that perfectly encapsulates the charm and warmth of Southern hospitality, look no further than Five & Ten in Athens, GA. Nestled in a beautifully converted home, this restaurant exudes an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you step inside.

Our evening began with a selection of starters that set the tone for what would be an unforgettable meal. The pimento cheese spread was a delightful introduction, creamy and flavorful, paired perfectly with crispy crackers. But the real showstopper was the broiled oysters. As someone who typically steers clear of oysters, I was pleasantly surprised by how these changed my perspective. They were perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and simply irresistible!

For our main course, we had a large group and decided to sample a variety of dishes. Each one was a testament to the chef's skill and dedication to quality. The catfish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, while the halibut was flaky and seasoned to perfection. The pork chop was juicy and flavorful, and the NY strip was nothing short of a carnivore's dream. I can honestly say that I have nothing but wonderful things to say about each dish we tried.

Despite being completely full, I couldn't resist the temptation of dessert. The chocolate cake was decadently rich, and the peanut butter pie dessert was a heavenly combination of flavors that left me wanting more. It was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal.

Five & Ten is a must-visit for anyone in Athens, whether you're an alumni looking to reminisce or parents wanting to treat their kids to an amazing dining experience. With its Southern vibes, exceptional food, and warm atmosphere, I wholeheartedly give this restaurant a 5/5 rating. Thank you Peter and the rest of the staff for a wonderful evening!

Our server was very kind and attentive, but unfortunately the experience was overshadowed by how long it took to receive our food. The restaurant wasn’t busy, yet our orders were extremely delayed. We ordered two appetizers (calamari and cornbread) along with the Sunday Prix-Fixe, which included a small starter for the table and two entrées.

It took about an hour before we received the first course from the Prix-Fixe menu. During that time, we asked about our appetizers twice and were only told “it’s coming right out.” Another hour passed before we got the main course, bringing our wait to two hours—and still no appetizers. We asked about them multiple times, at least five throughout the night, and only received them after we had already paid the check.

The food itself was delicious, but the delays and repeated dismissals really ruined the overall experience.

My husband made a reservation for our anniversary and we had an incredible meal and a fabulous experience.
The food:
We had the crispy eggplant, marinated olives, calamari, the pork chop, gnocchi, apple gillette, and the chocolate cake ...and a bottle of wine, a cup of coffee, and two drinks from the bar.
Basically, we ate our way through most of the menu and perhaps we should be embarrassed but we're not.
My advice? Go hungry and try everything. It was all fantastic. Truly. The food is tremendous.
No, it's not going to be on your table in five minutes. They're going to take the time and put in the effort to make the dish perfectly delicious. Sit back and enjoy the experience.
The service:
Jess was amazing. In every way... Ever. Recommendations? She's got them. Wine pairings? Sure thing. Drink suggestions? Absolutely. She was attentive without being in the way. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't push for the most expensive meal or bottle of wine - she listened to us and worked to our tastes.
I'll be honest, we had a little bit of a hiccup in the beginning. Things happen so we spoke up to Caitlin. She immediately took care of it. She listened to the issue and fixed it. That simple. She checked back in throughout our meal and frankly - she was outstanding. She went above and beyond and I can't thank her enough for making our anniversary an experience we won't soon forget.

Lovely and charming. Food, drinks and dessert all amazing. Staff was attentive. Located in a great part of town. The only callout is parking - not a lot of it in the back of the restaurant but overflow parking next door.

Always wanted to try this place out and recently did! It’s located along Milledge Avenue so it’s not hard to miss. Parking was a little iffy so be mindful of that. We ate out at the patio and it was so nice; the lighting set a relaxing mood. We decided to try a little bit of everything since it was our first time and everything was so good and worth a try!! The service was also great which was a plus to the evening.

We selected this place after reading the reviews and were expecting them to be much more welcoming and accommodating.

The service was just ok. Our server started off friendly, but later, she seemed distracted and perhaps even irritated. We did not feel welcomed, and the atmosphere was not comfortable.

In general we like simple menus, but the items they had in the menu were unrefined and underwhelming. And the taste was just average, doesn't match the prices.

And they took a loooong time to bring our food. We were just sitting there, bored, without having any food at our table majority of time. They gave us a complementary dessert at the end probably because of that.

However interior of the restaurant was interesting.

Parking is too tight and seems to have just one lane for both entrance and exit.

I genuinely wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, we will not be returning.
