This restaurant is coasting on a very old reputation. The food is sub-par, and the venue is changing hands with a new owner to be announced soon (according to the staff). I put up with an over baked corn bread and a bland salad but had to return the overly salty main course, which was replaced with a lackluster one. Nothing special here except the service, which is attentive and friendly. At this price point the poor quality of food is criminal. Most ordinary restaurants in Athens serve better food.

The setting of an old house is quaint. Not too stuffy but not too casual either. Parking was a little tight. We were sat right away with our reservation. 6:15 on a Monday, not too busy. The main dining room was a little chilly. We figured they were expecting more customers and it would warm up. Tables are metal legs with wooden tops, chairs were ok and everything was acceptably clean. The hostess was nice, we were given water and menus right away. Menus also included the happy hour specials and a list of bottle wine specials.Happy hour gimlet was good and the local lager was too.The charcuterie board was ok. We stretched it to feed 5. The Sun-choke jelly was ugly but de-li-cious!Our server was personable. We asked questions about the menu and various waitstaff members either could or unfortunately could not answer them. Our impression was that there wasn’t much of a ‘team work’ vibe happening.Beet salad okMushroom soup ok but needed a little kick of somethingThey were out of dumplings! We later found out that a large party of economic conference guests were sat in another room and we figured they were given dibs. We were offered extra sourdough bread which worked out as a good alternative for sopping up the juices. The trout okThe schnitzel was given a 9/10 from everyone who ordered it.We weren’t going to order dessert but because of the “no dumplings” and a late entree, we were comped and we ordered one of each. The lemon cake—needs work, tasted floury and heavyThe chocolate offering— too bitter but…the banana ice cream was amazingThe orange pavlova—-10/10! Best thing we ate—perfect treat. We enjoyed a leisurely very good meal and would recommend this restaurant for adult diners, date night, special occasion, or as a treat. There is outdoor/patio seating.

Delicious food and well worth it. Try going on a weekday when school is on break and it will be easier to get in.

First time to Athens, GA and this place was way above my expectations.Small menu but super fresh ingredients and thoughtful menu combinations. We were a table of 7 and everyone raved about each food selection.I had the Smoked Duck Special and the flavor profiles were on spot. The fries with the Steak Frites were very crispy and great.Service was friendly, knowledgeable and you can tell they care about the restaurant. Not a bad dish out of the entire meal.

Delicious and super cozy restaurant! Service was amazing (thank you, Katie!), and all of the cocktails were fantastic. The Brussels sprouts with the pork chop were the best I've ever had. The duck special with turnips was beautifully done. The butternut squash was delicious. Appetizers (pimento cheese with crackers and murder point oysters) were fantastic as well! Dessert was really good too - loved the use of beets in a sweet dish!

New Year's Eve was a fiasco. The reservations were at least 30 minutes late with another 30 minutes before receiving the appetizers. The vegetarian substitutions were a joke. The amuse bouche version was literally just a cracker. The entrees were under cooked and arrived around 45 minutes after the appetizers. My wife was desperate for any food, so she left and found a protein bar at a gas station. After 2 hours, we asked for the desserts to go, and considered the final wine pairing a casualty of this amateur effort. After tip, our meal was $250. My wife ended up eating a protein bar, and I cooked her something when we got home. When we were leaving, the frustration from the unseated customers was clear. They had to be at least an hour past their reservations, and they had no idea how much worse it was going to get.We commented through Resy, but the restaurant couldn't see fit to contact us back. No worries though, we aren't ever returning. Still, it would have been the professional thing to do. However, after that dinner service, it is clear that professional is not a term they are used to using. At this price point, you are held to a very high standard. You failed to deliver and have failed in the past as well. Hugh clearly no longer cares about this restaurant, and the people who work there have no idea how to maintain a standard of fine dining. What once was an unbeatable dining experience has now become a joke. A very expensive, unfunny joke. RIP

Excellent food and service. The smoked duck was exceptional and we will come again just to have that! The dessert game is slightly limited compared to the starters and mains - but still very highly recommended!

Lamb was not what i anticipated .. the meat had a grounded texture with very confusing taste ..halibut was ok but the paring with the vegetables was not done right.Chicken cordon bleu was very salty and chicken again had ground meat texture .. (pulled chicken)

We have been coming to the Five and Ten well before they left the Five Points location. Excellent service and venue but honestly the food just isn’t what it used to be, and frankly not good. Comments in the pictures but in short the Caesar salad should have been called the cheese salad and the new Frogmore Stew was bland and not worthy of returning to the menu, the mussels and prawns were tasteless.

It was a bit quiet as we arrived just before closing on a Tuesday due to flight delays. But the staff was happy we came, and the young couple next to us were pleased to start us to their favourite meals.Great food and with just enough innovation to make it new and fresh, but still traditional. And very happy people helping us to enjoy a wonderful experience. Please enjoy as we did!
