Jack was the best server we’ve had in the Athens area!! Go ask for him if you’re at Five Bar you won’t regret it!
We have had Five before in Birmingham and Athens and had good experiences in the past but last night ensured that I’ll never return to Five.
Our ribeye and pork chop looked and tasted like they had been boiled and then slapped on a plate, and the shrimp tasted like freezer burn.
I will say our cocktails and server were good so gave some stars for that, but from a food perspective I’d give zero. There are so many great restaurants in Athens, this just isn’t one of them.

The jazz brunch on Sundays is always a lovely time but unfortunately our server Alexis made it a less than pleasurable experience. She made our table feel like a burden, and did the bare minimum, all with a terrible attitude. She added autogratuity onto all of our checks for our party of 7, and after asking the host of the autograt policy I was told it was only for parties of 8+. Her service did not reflect an 18% gratuity, and it was extremely frustrating to pay after finding out it was a breach of policy.

i love sunday jazz at five bar - food and music is great. however our waitress Alexis was very rude. as someone who works in service, her attitude was unacceptable. she made us feel like a burden and made the overall experience less enjoyable for us. also she added 18% autogratuity for us when we were only 6 people and the restaurants autogratuity policy is a party of 8+. she did not deserve our tip and unfairly added auto gratuity.

It has a wonderful atmosphere and environment. All the drinks and appetizers I tried were delicious. You can watch the outside from the tables you sit at. You can chat with your friends comfortably with soft music. Also, the staff was very cheerful and friendly. My wife and I loved it.

Walked into Five with high expectations as I had not been yet but was very excited. I was sorely disappointed in the awkward atmosphere and level of service that my partner and I received. We wanted to get appetizers and drinks and call it a night, but that was a big problem because we didn’t want to sit at the bar and wanted to sit at a table. The hostess didn’t want to accommodate us and had to ask the server for ‘permission’. The waitress was not interested in doing her job, so we left after 1 drink because it was such an uncomfortable environment.

I travel to Athens periodically for work and always prioritize a trip to Five Bar for the Ribeye! It is so good that I, someone who would drink A-1 instead of lemonade, would never dare put it on their perfect steak.
The ribeye is served over fries, resulting in its juices dripping on the fries, giving them an amazing beef tallow taste.
The salad is topped with goat cheese, which blends well with the dried fruit with it.
I’ve had a couple other foods, but I keep coming back to the ribeye.

Five Bar in Athens, GA, is an absolute gem! From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic evening. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure every detail was perfect. I ordered the 12oz ribeye, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had. Their cocktail menu is equally impressive; I tried the Lavender Haze, and it was refreshing and perfectly balanced. The minimalist menu ensures every dish is crafted to perfection, and it truly shows. To top it all off, the ambiance—complete with soft lighting and timeless music—made the experience unforgettable. Five Bar is easily one of my new favorite spots in Athens, and I can’t wait to return!

On a recent visit to Five Bar for brunch we noticed a very different vibe. The place was about empty during a Sunday Brunch which we found strange since we'd been there many other times for Brunch on Sunday. The Jazz band was so loud we couldn't even hear ourselves think let alone speak to each other. My husband said his Brunch Burger was very good. However, my shrimp and grits was pretty much unrecognizable from the past times I or my husband had ordered it. The grits were runny and bland, there was very little goat cheese to be found. The shrimp was horrible, it was rubbery and tasted like it had been grilled on the grill pan in a ton of worcestershire sauce. I asked if there was a chef change and the server replied yes. I suggest that the 5 Bar get their old chef back.
