Very good all-you-can-eat. Fried fish and tartar sauce were my overall favorite, though. Tables needed to be cleaned off, but it is understandable that they weren't because it was packed. Fried chicken, okra, and deviled eggs were also really good, of course.

Home cooked meal! When you want Grandma's cookin... Everything was from scratch so if you know you know. Excellent is an understatement!! Macaroni and cheese, Fried Pork Chops, Fried Chicken, Pan Gravy. These are things you have high expectations of and are usually disappointed at buffet places like this. NOT HERE, NOT TODAY! I did the buffet at lunch but service was great. The dining area is small, maybe 50 max at a tight squeeze, the buffet size matches that but that allows for FRESH food continuously. I was there almost an hour and everything was extremely fresh throughout my visit. Dessert wasn't out on the buffet but they brought me a slice of lemon cake. This may have been in my best interest because I PROBABLY would have needed to be carried out on a stretcher. It was all that good!!! I'll definitely be back with my family!!! $18 with a 20% tip. She should own Golden Corral...
Parking: There's three or four spots. Gotta get in where you can or walk.

Very small restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing! Someone’s grandma is in the kitchen putting her whole heart in to that food. Fried pork chops, fried chicken, fried okra, rice, gravy, deviled eggs, stewed tomatoes, cornbread, mac and cheese. ALL of it was delicious.

Food for the Soul immediately made it to my top 5 favorite restaurants in Athens! I forgot to take a picture before eating, so this was my plate halfway through. This has to be the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Granted, I’m from New Jersey, so I don’t have a ton to compare it to, but damn, I can’t stop thinking about it. Also, I work on baxter and this is one of the best deals I’ve found for lunch in this area. I got a meat, two sides and corn bread for $12. The mac & cheese ran out right when I got there, so I’ll have to try that next time. Also, they were playing Sade which only added to the experience. ALSO it was super quick and easy to serve myself and check out which is perfect when you only have a 30 minute lunch.
EDIT: I just learned that it’s pork chop LOL whatever, it’s the best pork chop I’ve ever had

Two weeks ago me and my kids tried this place for the first time. We were pretty lost what was going on but a nice gentleman kinda showed us the routine. We took our food to go but boy that food was real good. We definitely will be going back soon

I give the atmosphere 5 stars because it's appropriate to the culture of the food. I've been in the south for 34 years and this is real soul food. I love places like this and they are few and far between now. This is salt, fat, and carbs composed as a culinary folk art form. IYKYK.

Had not been in a really long time. I wanted some soul food today and they did not disappoint. The food is kept VERY HOT. Overall cleaniness of the restaurant is good. I enjoyed everything on my plate. I had 2 pieces of meat and 3 sides and paid $12.80. The only thing I would say is that you don’t know how much you’re going to pay until you’ve already made your plate , and there’s no prices displayed but my food is usually $15 and under. The owner/manager is always nice. The macaroni and cheese was perfect. I’m gonna have to start back coming regularly! This food states like old school soul & R&B. It tastes like a grandma that’s the backbone of the family. It tastes like after church. It makes me wanna dance. Worth every dollar. I wanna kiss the chef. (Not literally)

With food this good, they definitely need a bigger space ?! We chose the ayce $14 buffet, which had fried shrimp (cooked to perfection), fried catfish (delicious), huge fried pork chops, meatballs, fried chicken and baked chicken for the meats. For the veggies, cabbage, collards, Mac n cheese (yum), black eye peas, potato salad, sweet potatoes, corn, deviled eggs, fried okra and stewed tomatoes! To be such a small space that made the buffet much smaller than most places, they utilized every bit of space and kept it filled up with deliciousness! They do a good amount of takeout, and several of the ten tables were occupied. The owners and staff were absolutely WONDERFUL! Kind and personable and so helpful. We had a wonderful experience celebrating an 85th birthday and the birthday girl was so happy! Can't wait to go back for the Sunday buffet and taste their dressing!! Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You won't be sorry. I guarantee it!
