My wife and I always enjoy eating at the Hilltop Grille when we are in Athens. The cream brûlée is amazing. On our visit to Athens on 2/13/2026, around 11:30 AM, I had the grilled salmon. It was delicious. My wife shared a little of her coleslaw with me. I later experienced mild indigestion. The only other thing I ate all day was some freshly homemade brownies my sweet neighbor brought over. The following morning around 7 AM, I awoke with an extreme urgency to go to the bathroom. I almost didn’t make it. I had a one and done case of severe diarrhea. I am submitting this review just to see if anyone else experienced the same issue after eating after eating there that day.

We hadn't been to Hilltop Grill in a while.. Ok... my husband makes a reservation Valentine wknd. I got the $50 filet with a lobster tail. My lobster tail was burnt (it was my fault that I didn't send it back right away) but waited until I saw the couples lobster tail at the table next to us & theirs was white & fluffy. Originally our waitress told me they couldn't discount it because I had eaten (most of) it. Then finishing my drink, there was a long string of hair in my mouth.... YUCK!!! At that time I ask for the manager. He came and I showed him my picture of my burnt $50 plate and thennnn, he decided to discount the burnt lobster tail, THANK YOU... but NEVER again... we're done with Hilltop!!! Just give me Longhorn & Texas R.H. $104 down the drain!!

We have truly enjoyed every experience dining here. The service has always been top notch and the food has been hands down the best. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes appetizer! I wish they would incorporate one that is layered pimento cheese/fried green tomato/ salmon patties drizzled with balsamic dressing. They’re usually prepared 3 to a platter appetizer.
We ordered the chicken finger platter and the hamburger steak mushroom gravy with smashed potatoes and green beans. Wonderful!!!

Dawgs fans shouldn't miss a chance to be there for Bulldog brunch on game weekend Sundays! I totally loved the grits. FYI the Crawfish gumbo is creole and not cajun. It's delicious but you should know that it has tomatoes. I would go for a nice chicken and sausage gumbo with no tomatoes and a little bay leaf seasoning. The other patrons were very friendly and welcoming on my first visit.

We went there on Thursday during lunch (or the lunch hour) and there were a lot of people. We ordered meatloaf as a business lunch (with a very reasonable price!). I really liked the crab cake. My mom ordered chicken fried steak tenders. But I would recommend ordering their crawfish gumbo and fried green tomatoes—they are a must! Overall, it was a really good experience, and we will come back for sure!

Server was great. Friday night about 530 only seating was on the patio. Wait for food was a bit long.
Food was good but not remarkable.
Be aware smashed potatoes are smoked. I liked them but not everyone at my table did.
Parking lot is small.

We have been going to Hilltop Grille for years for Sunday brunch after football games. We have always had wonderful service but today was totally different story. We had reservations at 11 for 9 people. We were sat quickly, but that is where the good ended. Our server did not come to the table for over 20 minutes. It was 45 minutes until we had drinks. We ordered cups of soup for an appetizer and they were delivered with one missing. We alerted the food runner but it was not brought out. I flagged down our server later and finally got the last cup. Our food came out and minus a few small issues was correct. Our server never came back once to get drink refills and had to be flagged down any time we needed him. He kept saying he knew he wasn't on the top of his game. But the service kept getting worse. The big surprise came when we asked for our check. As I mentioned before we frequent Hilltop for brunch and often have 9 people. We asked to split the check and he said for 9 people they only did one check. I let him know this was new news. We always were able to pay separately. He said it was on the menu somewhere. It is on the dinner menu but not the brunch. Also an automatic 20% gratuity was added which for the service we received was entirely too high. Especially when the server was extremely rude when we expressed our concerns/frustrations with the service. I am very patient with servers especially when it is busy but this was the worst! In all we were there for over 2.5 hours for a simple brunch. Two stars because the food is delicious.

Called and asked about the wait-list on Sunday, November 16, 2025 and the guy hung up on me when I was in mid-sentence. Not a good first impression.

I took some family here for brunch. I had heard Jeff and Kevin talk about how good the food is on the Bulldog brunch. I figured I would give it a try and check out the atmosphere. It was an off week for the Dawgs so I didn't get to see the show. I have to say the food was great. I got the Western omelette which was great. Very fresh ingredients. Side of bacon. The Red Mule grits were awesome too. It was around 15 dollars a plate so not cheap but thats the typical price you pay these days. There is also a lot of original painting there by Jack Davis who did all the UGA artwork for the football team in the 70's and 80's; as well as a lot of other UGA photos.

I had a fantastic dining experience overall. The New York strip steak was cooked perfectly, the salad was fresh and tasty, and the collard greens were exceptional. The staff were friendly and kind, which added to the positive atmosphere. Although I felt that might have been seated in the corner due to My attire, it didn’t detract from My enjoyment. The restaurant’s ambiance and service truly stood out, making it a memorable visit. I went to the restroom and as I came out the waitress was on top of me like I was going to skip out on the bill I understand because of the area we are in but never judge a book by it’s cover!!!!!!!!!
