Not a manager in sight, I had to go up to the bar to get a waitress and then flag her down whenever we needed anything. Definitely don’t have a reason to go back.

To Whom It May Concern at Casa Almenara,

I visited your Tenth Street location on Thursday, August 28, 2025. During my visit, another patron and I attempted to exit from the hookah side of the establishment, only to find the door locked. This raised serious safety concerns, as locked exits during business hours violate state and federal safety codes.

According to Georgia Code § 25-2-37, and standards adopted from the International Fire Code and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, all exit doors in public establishments must:

Remain unlocked from the inside during business hours.

Be operable without keys, tools, or special knowledge.

Include panic hardware if intended for assembly use.

Remain unobstructed and easily accessible at all times.

Violations can result in civil fines, OSHA citations, license revocation, and even criminal liability if injuries occur due to blocked egress.

Your security staff justified the locked door and directed us through a service area in the kitchen—an unsafe alternative for patrons, especially without slip-resistant footwear. This is unacceptable. When questioned, security became dismissive, and shortly after, my party was asked to leave. We were also encouraged to take our drinks with us—an open container violation under Atlanta law.

I'm requesting a formal apology for this experience and replacement of the drinks we were unable to enjoy due to being removed from the premises. Otherwise, I’m prepared to file a formal complaint with the appropriate safety and regulatory authorities.

I look forward to your prompt response.

The atmosphere here is really odd. I couldn’t tell if this was a restaurant, bar or nightclub. I was carded, patted down and then charged $5 just to enter the building. Light crowd, ok food, watered down drinks and sub par service, snarky and condescending staff. This place lacks the “Midtown Spirit.” No intentions on returning here.

This place is awful. Not Mexican food whatsoever. Operates like a club and a terrible addition to the neighborhood. Hopefully it will close before it ruins the entire block.

I’ve gave it a couple of chances and it gets worse and worse. 18% gratuity is normal but the service is supposed to be good.

Happy hour & service was bad... really bad. The drinks was too sweet & waited 45 minutes for 2 tacos The manager made it right with discounting my bill, so I'll give 3 starts for that

Honestly, there’s so many places in the area that are better. I went for a celebratory brunch with 4 other friends and we left disappointed. 3 of us got the steak and eggs, one person got the chilaquiles (she was the only one enjoyed her food), and another got shrimp and grits. The grits were undercooked and underseasoned through the swim was flavorful (slightly over cooked) The steak was lacking seasoning and despite being served medium rare was tough and overall unappealing. The server we had was slow to bring around our bottomless mimosa and overall had a lackadaisical, uninterested, and slightly stank personality. On top of that, the furniture was worse for where. After coming here, my question is where is there money going ? It’s not being invested in the good, staff or decor.

Security was rude and condescending especially to women. Security made negative comments about women and threaten to remove my friend and was rude to customers through out the night. He abused his power as security and made several negative comments to customers that either wasn’t moving fast enough, dancing, or didn’t appeal to his liking. Courtesy goes a long way. He clearly hated his job and took his frustration out on anyone in sight.

Stopped in for a good lil vibe and was not disappointed! Ordered an Almenara margarita, nachos and hookah.

The margaritas were refreshing and the nachos were nacho’ing! Every nacho had something on them even the bottom of the bowl!

The place is high energy and friendly, I suggest sitting in the corner window so you can people watch. The hookah series exceptional!
