This legendary steakhouse exceeded all of our expectations! Exceptional customer service, over-the- top taste sensations, generous portions, gracious, friendly servers-- in fact, every member of the dining room staff enhanced our experience. This has to be one of the finest meals we can remember. We started with the onion rings as an appetizer: thick, oversized rings with masterful crunch and flavor. My husband had the N.Y. strip, and I had the Bones salad with grilled shrimp. Both choices had us oohing and aahing with every bite. Regardless of how full you are, you have to get the Mile High pie, which is an ice cream cake with all kinds of delicious surprises as you excavate your way through it's layers. Thanks to Jared, Jonathan and the owners of Bones for setting the gold standard.

I’m visiting Atlanta for work and have made a point of trying a different steakhouse each week. So far, I’ve dined at Marcel and Chops Lobster Bar, both of which delivered very good experiences. Bones came highly recommended by a colleague, so I was genuinely looking forward to the visit. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing.
I began with the lobster bisque. The soup contained a long fragment of shell. When I brought it to the bartender’s attention, there was no offer made to replace the dish or involve a manager, which I found unacceptable.
For my entrée, I ordered a petite filet. While it is not listed on the menu, the bartender informed me it was available. The first few bites were promising, however, the center of the steak was severely undercooked to the point of being mushy, more reminiscent of liver than filet. Attempting to salvage the dish, I cut into a different section, but it tasted overwhelmingly fatty despite no visible fat. The texture was unappetizing and inedible.
When I raised the issue, the bartender acknowledged the steak had not been cooked evenly and asked if I wanted it cooked further. I agreed in hopes it could be salvaged. When it was returned, it remained completely inedible. The bartender then asked if I wanted to take it home. I said no, I couldn’t eat it. He simply said “OK” and removed the plate without offering any further resolution or involving a manager.
I cannot determine whether this resulted from the quality of the cut, preparation, or handling. However, at a steakhouse of this caliber, careful quality control and proactive management involvement are expected when a dish is clearly unacceptable. The lack of managerial response and the complete failure to recover the experience was deeply disappointing.
Mistakes happen in any restaurant. What distinguishes exceptional establishments is how they respond. In this case, the failure to meaningfully address repeated issues was inexcusable.

It is really special to find a restaurant with this level of service these days.
Bread and butter was perfect and served immediately. Service was attentive and prompt. The food was overall delicious. There are not many places, especially these days in Atlanta, where I can say that.
Unfortunately there were a few aspects that were less than perfect, and at this price point it needs to be perfect:
1) beverage menu is digital
2) my steak was too salty

My husband and I dined at Bones for the first time last night! After reading all the wonderful reviews, I was excited about our experience and Bones lived up to its reputation!
From the atmosphere, staff, service and food - everything was amazing! We had Pierce as our server and Luis who was helping him out- they both did an excellent job! I had the filet mignon with lobster, my husband had the bone in ribeye (I think, haha) and we shared with collar greens and mac/cheese! Hands down - some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. To top it off , we got the pecan pie with ice cream.
We will definitely be back!

I dined here a week ago with a large party in a private room. We were seated immediately. The entrance and bar area was crowded. The restaurant has an intimate vibe. The temperature in the private room was a bit warm considering the room was in the basement. The service exceeded my expectations. I had the Mixed Grill (filet mignon, lamb and v pheasant sausage) with shareable sides. I believe everyone's food, including mine, was undercooked by varying degrees causing two or three people to send their food back. The sausage and sautéed spinach were the best parts of the meal.

Our steaks were excellent! The service was top notch, as always. The personalized menu was a nice touch.
My disappointment with this restaurant hit me harder than expected. I waited some time before writing this critique, listening to others’ experiences first, and then decided to share my own.
When we entered Bones, the interior was beautiful from room to room even the restroom. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the crowd was a mix of millennial and Baby Boomer business professionals, along with others simply enjoying dinner.
It was my birthday, and we had made reservations in advance. Our table, however, was tucked into a very small corner on the upper level, requiring some awkward maneuvering just to sit comfortably. We adjusted and made the best of it. We ordered drinks tea for my husband and a Rémy Martin for me chatted, laughed, and then ordered dinner.
Our waiter was kind, though the cramped space clearly made it difficult for him to serve the table comfortably. After dinner, he brought out a very large complimentary piece of cake, which was thoughtful. It wasn’t to my taste, but I thanked him and showed appreciation, knowing we would still leave a generous tip. My husband then ordered champagne to end the evening, and we headed home.
Here is how I rate Bones:
Ambience: A
Menu: B- (vegetables were ordinary)
Drinks: B-
Food Service: A-
Hospitality: D–F
Why the failing hospitality grade? Throughout our entire meal, the maître d’ repeatedly stationed himself every 15 minutes or so within clear view of our table, arms folded, staring at us for several minutes at a time. It felt less like oversight and more like surveillance deeply uncomfortable and unnecessary. We could have left, but instead I chose to take my time, making it clear we weren’t rushing out.
If the maître d’ from May 15th happens to read this, know that we regularly dine at establishments we consider superior to Bones. I am well aware of the tactics some restaurants use with “us”: seating us near restrooms, kitchens, entrances, or at the most uncomfortable tables. Those tactics don’t go unnoticed, and they don’t work on me. I was polite only because it was my birthday.
The dull knives placed on our table were another issue. Struggling to cut asparagus or veal chops is unacceptable. Were we given overused flatware because someone assumed we might steal it?
As for the Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label, while it may satisfy some patrons, it is not what I keep in my home. I drink Dom Pérignon, not just on special occasions. This detail may seem petty, but given how we were treated, it feels relevant. We were made to feel as though we were out of our element in what is supposed to be a high-end restaurant.
I want to be clear: my husband and I were well dressed, as we always are. Our attire was appropriate for the setting and in line with the restaurant’s expectations. What followed had nothing to do with how we were dressed and everything to do with how we were perceived. Others noticed the behavior as well. I did not make a scene because that is not who I am but silence should not be mistaken for acceptance.
Please don’t assume what someone is or isn’t accustomed to simply because they are not dining with “others.”
Do I recommend this restaurant? Not for us. Others may enjoy it, and I believe my experience was targeted rather than universal. Still, if it took spending $203.60 to celebrate my birthday to learn this is not a place I should support or promote in Atlanta, then it was worth it. Too many establishments in Georgia get away with questionable behavior because no one calls them out. I will.

Our service here continues to be excellent. The food is on a different level and that level seems to only ever be achieved at Bones. The drinks are flavorful, creative, and a wonderful addition to dinner. We sat downstairs this time and it was wonderful. It is worth every penny, every single time. We will continue to return to Bones each time we come back to Atlanta.
We stayed at the bar and had a great dinner. Dan, Sean, and Charles went above and beyond to take care of us!!
I haven't been to Bones in over 6 years. Covid and a move out of the city kept me from making time to go. Well, what a wasted 6 years. We had an amazing night with great service and the best meal I've had in a very long time.
Bones is always fantastic! The decor, the service, the atmosphere and the food. I tried a different steak this time and was a little disappointed. The bone-in dry aged Kansas City strip. It was ok, but next time I'll go back to a ribeye or filet. Beef carpaccio appetizer and mountain high pie were fantastic!!
Our experience started off having to wait and see multiple other groups seated ahead of us as we stood waiting and watching all of these people push through us. After speaking to the Host again, I requested that we be seated and he did so right away. Our server was very slow to reach the table for introduction and our sparkling water request took at least 10 minutes to show up. Every thing seemed to be slow last night - the server taking our orders, the food coming out of the kitchen very slow and a lack of check back by the server was also a problem. We ordered a Porterhouse steak to be cooked medium but the steak was really overcooked and trying to find our server, we went ahead and ate it. We were finally seated at 6:30 pm and left the restaurant at around 9:00 pm due to the above issues. It just seemed that everything was a little off last night which is not typical of the experience we have received on other occasions. We're not one to complain frequently but we thought you needed to know our disappointment!
