Super lucky to have a Dollar General Express in the middle of town! This is my go-to spot if I need to grab milk or any staples. I find that things are cheaper here than at CVS or any other convenience store. I especially appreciate that they stock some basic produce like tomatoes, garlic, potatoes, celery, avocados, etc. Also, this store is built to be accessible with a ramp for those who are handicapped. I also frequent this store if I have a birthday party coming up, it definitely has the most affordable selection of cards, gift bags, and other party supplies you might need when you're in a pinch. I hope this spot can stay around for a while as I truly value the importance of having a variety of convenience stores and groceries at different price points.

Staff was rude, closed 10 minutes early and was throwing gay slurs

A small grab and go shop is what this area has desperately needed for years. Produce often looks old. However, I'm thankful the option is there. They are more of a grocery than store. They have convenience items. It reminds me of grocery you would find in a hotel. Mostly quick insta foods rather than ingredients. They do have basics though- bread, eggs, bacon, lunch meats, milks, butter, & some frozen foods. They also have cleaning products, paper products, & hygiene. One thing I still have not figured out. I was always told Dollar General was low price store. I guess DGX is different because everything is full retail price. Maybe I was misinformed to start.

One fine evening, I went to my neighborhood dollar general with the intention of making two separate purchases- one for myself where spent $70+ on items from this particular store, and the 2nd purchase was my 12 year old daughter’s purchase (items for her grandmother’s birthday gift). We were in a good mood, happy to be making our purchases and then this very aggressive and rude black male store manger refused to check my child out. We both asked why… He said because that’s his decision and he has the right to refuse service. Like a mama bear does I then went into protection mode. I asked to let him continue with our purchase he refused several times. I then told him I wanted to return the items I just purchased that were $70+ and he told me no. After I started to record the confrontation, he then tells me just to take the items. I refuse because I don’t want to be charged with theft. He continues to make a huge scene in front of other guest and my child. We are both embarrassed, shocked, disgusted, confused and disappointed. This guy pictured below does not need to be working at any customer service job. He is the WORST employee I’ve come in contact this year. I will never visit this location again!!! And I definitely will be returning my $70+ purchase and going to another place like target or Walgreens which is less than a mile away from this store to purchase the same exact items. Wow wow wow!!! What a waste of my time and money!!! And the treatment he gave my daughter, who was so excited to be spending her own money to get her grandmother a birthday present, was uncalled for and traumatizing. I hope that he finds another job not working with customers & children and takes some anger management classes.

This place needs to be reported for closing before 10 everyday and SUED for their employees getting hostle with guestS! Once again the doors are locked and NO worker in sight at 9:30! The guy with the braids, I've also experienced aggression when I walked in at 9:30, he yelled at the top of his lungs at me because I walked in before he could lock the door. The workers here care more about leaving early than customer service! They're ALL rude!

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve had in a store in my life. I am completely shocked that such a person is employed by DGX who behaves this way and is a danger to customers/the community. My experience was similar to the person below dealing with the same employee except WORSE. The employee tried to close the store down at 9:25 (they close at 10). While we were shopping he runs up on me and my boyfriend aggressively yelling at us that the store was closed. He then proceeds to become EXTREMELY aggressive and tries to fight my boyfriend, going so far as to follow us out of the store and across the street. I was absolutely terrified. As a young woman I was extremely concerned and scared. The fact that this person is still employed here has me absolutely shocked. He has had numerous reviews left about him behaving aggressively and inappropriately with customers. What will it take for him to be fired?

Horrendous experience. I was one of the many customers yelled at and kicked out of the store yesterday night. How is this employee still working here after numerous complaints, closing almost an hour before listed hours, and trying to FIGHT customers????Out of concern for my safety I will no longer be shopping here until this person is no longer employed here. He is a danger to customers and a liability to the company.

I am frequent shopper at this store in my neighborhood. Very disappointed when I was met with a very aggressive male worker at the store. Maybe he was having a bad night, but he closed the store down and locked the doors down before 9:30pm when its supposed to close at 10pm. I met him at the door when he was letting a couple out. He said to me and I quote, “Unfortunately, we’re closed for tonight.” I replied, “So, you all close at 9:30 now, because the sign posted says 10pm.” He got really loud and aggressive and said, “WELL THAT’S WHAT TIME, I’M CLOSING TONIGHT!!” then I said, “I will be contacting corporate.” He goes, “Yea, you do that then.” and locked the door. Well I did and filed a report and looking to take this further. This store is located in a prime location where I live. His very unprofessional behavior is uncalled for especially in this area. I don’t want this store to go down like other stores in Atlanta. If he continues to work there with this behavior, I will contact the Mayor personally and other city leaders to call for this location to be shut down. Not a threat a promise. I did contact the number posted on the store.People never know who walks into there stores. From Secret shoppers or people with power. I work for a private billion dollar company and we would never allow or hire a young man such as the one I met tonight. He’s a risk to this company and he needs to be fired and have a huge attitude adjustment! The one in braids is the man I’m talking about.

I frequently shop at the DGX location in Midtown, Atlanta as I live near by. Lately there has been a lot of homeless people in and around the store. The employees of this location do an AMAZING job at handling this problem. I know it is not in their job description, but I have so much admiration for the way the staff deals with this issue. Today when I was leaving the store the employee walked me to the door and watched me leave to ensure my safety! I want him to be recognized for going above and beyond his job description and for the company to know that that residents of Midtown will always support the people who work in our communities to make us safe! Thank you so much!

Shelf price say one price and the cash register say another price and management will not accommodate everybody's price gouging they don't care about their customers so I will no longer shop at that kind of a store buy those companies

Everyone at DGX is friendly and professional. I always get greeted as soon as I walk in.

Spent a while shopping today and got to the register and they said it was cash only. When I left I looked and there are no signs anywhere on the doors or windows or even registers stating this. So simple and quick to roll out register receipt tape and post it up CASH ONLY so people don't waste valuable time.

Over 15000 people live in condos and apartment buildings in Midtown. I live on the same block as this location, and I would estimate (my building has 1000 residents) that 10000 people live within a 5 minute walk. This location is great and has amazing potential - Savi provisions really isn't a grab and go grocery store, and Publix is not as central to many of these buildings and has long lines on weeknights. I was really hoping DGX would be my goto for short trips and must haves. But it is not. It suffers from two key problems: 1) They don't seem to cater to the fact that this is an urban population, mostly walking. I don't want a 5 pound bag of onions, I just want to buy an onion or two. I don't want a gallon of milk, I want a pint of creamer. 2) THIS IS THE BIGGEST -- THE STOCK IS UNRELIABLE. Every time I have gone in there, it is completely unpredictable what will be in stock -- there are always entire shelves empty, and you never know which ones. I have given up shopping here. CVS may be smaller and not carry produce, but it keeps its groceries and household goods (trash bags, toilet paper, etc) always in stock (and produce at DGX is by far the most unpredictable) and is one block away. Sure CVS costs more than DGX, but I don't have to worry about which of the 5 items I need will not be in stock. I don't blame the employees, but management needs to study the local market to adjust what it sells, and figure out how to keep the store stocked. I would love to see it successful. But I don't think it will be at its current rate.
