I went here yesterday with my partner and a party of 8 others after having scheduled a day at the location a month in advance. We paid $295 and have the withdrawal to prove it. We arrived on site at our designated time of 12:00 and were told by the employee that our visit was cancelled. She insisted it was, and asked that we look for emails stating the cancellation occured. No, we had no email of any kind stating our event was cancelled. The employee told us they had several large visits that day, which yes would be true because we were supposed to be one of them! When we asked for when we would receive a refund, the employee told us that my most likely it would happen by the end of the workday. That was not what happened, so we will have to proceed with other avenues. This is outrageous. How was this cancelled? I was under the impression that payments are final, and we were anticipating our day there for quite a while. All of our friends had arrived as well for the visit only for us to tell them that our event was cancelled by Dr. Bombay's. Extremely disappointed.
We had a great time here! We made a large reservation for my daughter’s high school graduation party, and the place is so fun and eclectic it made every picture fantastic. The tea, sandwiches, and sweets were lovely and the servers were very helpful. I would absolutely go back again!
Awful experience. Was apart of a party of 10 that booked over a month in advance. They deducted $300 dollars from our party organizers card and then on the day, we made the drive out to Dr. Bombays to find they had cancelled the reservation with no warning or email. They said didn’t you get a cancellation email? The last email we have is a confirmation. So they cancelled our party’s reservation, gave no notice, and still charged our card $300? Make that make sense. Also there was absolutely no apology, no attempt to make it work, nothing. Steer clear from this business unless you want your friends to make the drive out here and end up with no place to celebrate your birthday. Also, when asked when we would be refunded they said “probably” later that day. Unacceptable and incredibly disappointing.
It sucks here.
The venue was very cute and the waiters nice. However, I found disappointing to pay almost 30 dollars for 60% of the trays having cookies and cupcakes from the grocery store (the type with flashy colors and confetti). I would go come for a cup of tea as the tea offer was original but not for the food.
I am not happy to write this, but our experience there yesterday(3/29/26) was not good. The only good thing I can report is that the staff was very friendly. The tea pot was filled with tea bags indicating that no consideration was made to actually brew tea---properly. Consequently, the tea was bitter. The food was laughable:
the quiche was cold and soggy; the sandwiches were on either old bread, or baggette-style that was so hard it could not be chewed; the sweets were basically Kroger cookies with sprinkles. We came a few years ago at the previous location, and things were much better. Because of the first positive experience, we were very disappointed. This is very fixable!
Not like it used to be. Food quality went way down. You share a tea with someone and can’t enjoy what you want. It was still decorated nice, staff was friendly. Just lost its charm.
Dr Bombay's High Tea service is a unique and lovely experience right in the heart of Grant Park! The staff was super kind and friendly, the food was amazing and the tea was exceptional! Everyone should visit at least once!
Don’t listen to the bad reviews!!!
This place is Amazing! The food, all made in house, is delicious, fresh, and warm. The tea is flavorful and perfect. I came here with my daughter for a Mommy daughter date, it was so fun!
A lady named Pretty (name fitting!) served us and we had the the very best service.
We used to go to the Candler Park location. While we enjoyed it, this move seems to have really taken the place up a few notches. I am looking forward to our next visit!
I’ve never been to a “high tea” service and wanted to try it out. After initially making my reservation for the wrong date, I emailed the company and they were polite, and were able to reschedule. Our server Pretty was so welcoming and friendly and described the 2 “holiday” tea selections. We loved both and were able to get a refill of each. We had savory foods such as quiche, cucumber sandwiches and a really delicious pimento cheese sandwich, and a variety of baked goods like scones with cream, cookies, brownies, mini muffins and fresh fruit. Whether or not these items are baked fresh in house, I don’t know, but we loved everything and not a bite was left! Pretty explained that they are currently only open for weekend reservations, but I hope they are successful and end up being open for walk-ins some week days. While you might want to find a fancier place for a truly special occasion (at triple the cost) I thought the $29 price per person was perfect for a lovely experience.

Delicious tea and finger sandwiches. Best pimento sandwiches I've ever eaten. Servings were enough for the 5 people we had in our party. Staff is very hard-working and very responsive. The tearoom decor itself is a bit eclectic, but much more lively than a European tearoom.
Not all that bad, however for the price ($29 per person) I was a little disappointed in the quality. You no longer get to choose your tea, all guests get the same tea of the day. We were also given just oat milk for a cream for our tea. Some of the pastries were a bit dry and they don't seem to be made in house, more grocery store bakery style. The tea host was pleasant and kind though.
Great tea experience! My husband and I went to grab some tea & scones (thinking they had a walk up counter type option) but found out when we got there that they only take reservations on weekends for high tea. They were able to squeeze us in last minute for the high tea service, so we were pleasantly surprised to be able to sit down and get the whole experience they offer.
Pretty and Gin were the ladies that served us & went above and beyond to take care of us! It was great!!
They served us quiche, 2 different kinds of sandwiches, scones, clotted cream (more like a whipped cream or Devonshire cream than a traditional clotted cream), fruit & an assortment of pastries. They also served us 2 different kinds of teas. Everything was delicious!
The space itself is very cozy and has a great vibe.
I highly recommend to anyone who’s wanting a great tea experience:)
They made a teen birthday party a very special event! The staff was friendly, attentive and kind; the food and tea were plentiful and delicious; the room is adorably decorated and clean. We will be back very soon!
They were closed. A little sign on the window indicated that they are only open for special occasions.
