Ate at Fred's counter on a bustling Sunday afternoon. We got a cheesesteak, Fred's stack burger, & garlic fries. The cheesesteak was excellent. Food was fresh. The burger was so delicious, I had 2 bites of the full burger, but to save on calories, ate the rest of just the burger meat with cheese, onions, pickles, & mayo. The quality of the meat is excellent (no gristle nor fatty pieces.) Our garlic fries have been better at previous visits, but even not up to par, they are so good!

The woman that took our order had such great energy & vibes that simply interfacing with her, lifted my spirits & made my smile even bigger. Loved our brief interaction. I was observing her as we ate, & she greeted every single person with that same warmth.

It was our first time choosing to eat at their counter, versus in the public seating area of Krog Street. That was cool b/c we could peek into the happenings in the kitchen. I gave the atmosphere a 4, simply b/c I hate crowds & get overwhelmed pretty easily. To its' credit, Fred's is always busy b/c it deserves to be that popular! To a different person, they'll enjoy the busyness & energy of a big crowd. Small operation with everyone working together, having an even flow, & ultimately, keeping the experience top notch. We've been before & we'll continue to go back to enjoy Fred's.

Ordered take out from here. The cheesesteak was definitely worth it. The salmon sandwich was just ok - good, but not something I’ll order again. Garlic fries were DECKED in parsley and garlic, and I wasn’t mad about it.

One of the best Philly spots in town. Korean Philly is great but I’m partial to the ribeye. Their burger is exceptional as well, as are the fries. Eggplant sub is a really nice veggie option if that’s your jam.

Not a cheap spot and the wait can be significant at times, but a great option in Krog.

The Burger Stack is an absolute classic. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the burger was cooked juicy and tender -- truly done to perfection. Every bite hit just right, and it's definitely something I would order again and again.

The service was friendly and efficient, and we loved sitting at the walk-up bar -- it made for a relaxed, fun experience. The atmosphere at Krog Street Market adds to the vibe, making it a great spot to grab a quality burger.

Fred's Meat & Bread continues to be one of my Krog Street Market favorites. Highly recommend if you're looking for a consistently delicious burger in a casual setting!

Line is often long (it’s good food) but a 10 minute line and 20+ minute food wait means you’re standing next to the counter for quiiiite a long time

Went here after reading the Michelin article. Disappointing cheesesteak. Bread quality was low. Cheesesteak all chopped in fine pieces. Would have rather gone to Subway for a cheesesteak.

On a non busy day this place is perfection, seating available, practically no wait for food. Even when it not. Its worth the wait!

Whoa, havent had this disappointing of a food service in years. Bit into my burger and found a piece of metal! Which I can of course forgive, things happen. But the manager wouldn't even look me in the eye, and said he'd refund my lunch without even an apology, or anything resembling caring.

Only to see on my credit card bill today he only refunded me half. Wow, I guess thats because the first bite or two didnt have metal bits in it? BIZARRE.

After talking to some locals, I've come to find out the head chef is gone now, and service has utterly gone to pot. So sad... But hey, we will probably get something fun and new in their stall soon!

I came here in December looking forward to the Chicken Parmesan sandwich , only to be given a Philly Cheesesteak. Honestly, can the young girl at the cashier pay attention when customers are giving their order because this was very disappointing and the Philly Cheesesteak was very underwhelming.
