If you want the best little NY Deli in Atlanta, Ga look no further than Gruby’s NY Deli (near ‘Pill Hill’)
I had the #17 Herald Square- the moist fresh turkey, cranberry sauce, Brie cheese that’s melted and so gooey topped with toasted rye bread. It’s like having the day after Thanksgiving any day of the week.
The other favorite of mine is the NY Rueben. The fresh corned beef that is freshly sliced. The fresh rye bread, toasted, with sauerkraut, and cheese makes you feel like you’re in NYC. Please don’t forget about the homemade chicken noodle soup that feels like mom made it just for you. The fresh pulled chicken, with carrots celery and the broth will cure anything. The matzo ball soup is another favorite, huge dumpling moist and just right with the broth surrounding this little bit of heaven.
Last, as far as food is the breakfast! If you’re looking for plan on working after eating breakfast you’ll need to nap before working a hard day. The pancakes are huge, the fresh eggs and bacon will definitely put you in a great mood.
To top off this little gem is the staff there. Every-time you walk in it’s like coming home as there are so many regulars here you know this place is where you need to come.

My second visit confirmed my memory of the first one: Not very good.

I wanted a cheeseburger, but the server explained that they pre-cook the meat most of the way and then finish the process when ordered. I decided to have the Matt’s grilled chicken sandwich instead. It is served with coleslaw and pickle. I declined the pickle and ordered a small side of fries. The server forgot the coleslaw and the fries looked and tasted like they had been cooked and then put back in the fryer to heat back up (overcooked in old oil). The chicken was dry and basically tasteless. And the pink lemonade had a watered down flavor.

My first visit I had a turkey sandwich and the meat was like the slices from some off brand store purchase. How does this place call itself a NY deli when they don’t even have fresh carved turkey?

No need for a third try.

Best deli sandwich I've had in Atlanta, by far (twin towers sandwich). Service was great, they visited as soon as we were sat down. They were quick to send out food and refill drinks. The atmosphere was great - low key and good energy with a solid crowd, but not too packed or too loud. I have only had one sandwich here, but I highly recommend trying it.

We stopped in and tried the New York Reuben, the New York Giants Club, chicken soup, and a side of fries.

Everything was phenomenal. The sandwiches were stacked high with fresh, quality meats and packed with flavor. The Reuben was perfectly grilled, with melty cheese and just the right amount of sauerkraut. The Giants Club lived up to its name. It was huge, delicious, and satisfying. The chicken soup tasted homemade and comforting, like something straight out of a New York kitchen. Even the fries were crisp, golden, and addictive.

If you’re craving a true New York deli experience, this place nails it. We’ll definitely be back!

Food was good. I got the 42nd Street, only criticism of the sandwich is the hot peppers were lacking in quantity and variety. Otherwise a very good spot for a lunch.

Probably the closest to the real thing I have found so far in Atlanta. We were a large party and savored a variety of breakfast and sandwiches entrees. If nothing else, go for the Chopped Liver!!! Friendly and attentive staff. Simple diner like atmosphere.

We are regulars but this past Sunday was not great on the service. They weren't ready for a large group and our service was not the usual. Plus messed up order, forgot a requested fork. It's not the norm and I'll be happy to change my review the next time, but for now this was our experience. We will go back though. Could have been the one-off .The food is good with reasonable portions.

Owner/operator took great care of me this morning - let me order a lunch sandwich at 8am. Food was great. Bread was fresh. Coleslaw was perfect blend of sweet and vinegar. Highly recommend!
