Arrived for dinner after seeing glowing reviews of being the most authentic ramen in Atlanta outside of Japan. Once we were in, we saw no host at the stand and besides the two employees in the kitchen, and one at a table, no other employees. Place was maybe 30-40% occupied. We waited around 5-10 minutes for any acknowledgement we were there and waiting. We ended up leaving. It's not a good look when no one even seems to care you arrived.

My partner and I absolutely love this place, the food is always amazing and the server Mikaela is the absolute best! She is so attentive and sweet. If you go ask for her and she’ll take the best care of you!

Hajime is always a cozy and welcoming Ramen spot. Love coming here for birthday dinners or just because. Adding rich broth and making the ramen spicy (if you're into that) is always a good decision. Pictured is the Kani salad, homemade Kimchi ($1!!), and both Tonkotsu ramen, one with spice level 3. I'm not gluten free, but I enjoy their kale noodles, as well. 😊

Curry is ramen is surprisingly so good. Also, the broth in kimchi ramen is so flavorful but the kimchi is a bit soggy lacking crunch. Onigiri is so fresh and on point.

The service was fantastic - my server was so nice and answered questions. The food presentation was beautiful as my pictures show - I was very excited to try this out. The ramen was really, not great! I got the seafood ramen, extra spicy. It was quite spicy but the seafood was poor. The squid had almost no flavor, the shrimp was either poor quality or refrozen too many times as, while it was cooked, it was translucent. The only flavor in the dish was the spice. Again - great service and presentation - but the flavor was missing - completely. Now - the Shrimp buns were really good. Crispy, freshly prepared, great flavor - but - quite saucy. Dial back the sauce a bit, it shouldn’t be dripping out completely. Perhaps I picked a bad day, but for the price, I expected more flavor!

I have recommended Hajime as “THE ramen place in Atlanta” countless times and as a former (5-6 times/month) regular it truly pains me to write this review. Until about a year ago, I was able to call and be recognized by anyone on staff by caller ID-a luxury that I was very thankful for. There was always a kind greeting waiting for me no matter the server or chef. My usual order was “in the system” and they even threw in a little bit of extra “rich soup” (rich soup is an up-charge in itself) in a separate container at no cost. I was spoiled, no doubt. I can’t be sure what happened in June/July of 2024, but what I do know is there was a mass exodus seemingly overnight. Suddenly I couldn’t even get the restaurant on the phone after multiple tries. The friendly waitstaff and knowledgeable chefs I recognized were gone. Service quality has become non-existent and the chefs don’t seem to take much pride in their work. Clearly there has been a change in leadership and/or ownership. Unfortunately, they have ruined what used to be a beacon of high quality ramen and other authentic Japanese foods. I hope this review helps to bring my formerly beloved Hajime back to its glory.

This ramen place is slept on. The noodles are homemade all the side dishes are authentic and delicious and their draft beer is to DIE for. 10/10 also if u eat there a lot u can get these stamp cards and after 10 bowls of ramen U get one free! Also the people are so nice and it’s so good you will feel happiness immediately.
