This is a little leftfield, but I had the chance to photograph Sean and his groomsmen getting ready at Joystick Gamebar before his wedding, and it was an inspired choice for a relaxed, fun pre-ceremony hangout. The place has this great, retro vibe with vintage arcade games and pinball machines, which immediately made it feel different. A laid-back guys’ hangout rather than a formal prep space. Sean and his crew spent the morning just enjoying the games, unwinding with some drinks, and soaking up the atmosphere without any stress.

The staff at Joystick were awesome, setting everything up so the guys had plenty of space to spread out, enjoy some food and do their thing. There's plenty of seating, a cozy corner where Sean could have a few quiet moments to himself, which made for some great candid shots. If you’re looking for an unconventional spot to kick back before a wedding, Joystick Gamebar is a solid pick for an easygoing vibe that still feels special.

The most horrible experience ever last night me and my two guy friends went to chill at joystick we walked in and walked to the back and there was an improv comedy show going on we are African American however everyone in the back was white. We had no problem with no one and was racially profiled and treated like like we were a threat ! I have never been so humiliated in my life. We actually were engaging in the show however the comedian who came on second felt the need to make us uncomfortable making rude jokes to try to push us to leave because they feel uncomfortable having us in the audience since they were making pretty racist jokes… he totally disrespected us and kept saying he was autistic as a way to excuse his disposition towards us! While everyone sat and laughed.. We were ask to leave abruptly and we did absolutely nothing to try to disrespect the show or crowd ! I tried to let the host know that this was not ok . He apologized after they asked us to leave because he knew that that was wrong! Never go here if you are black they treat you like it’s 1950! There should be no reason we as people can’t coexist ! If we had no issues with coming in and trying to enjoy ourselves why did they feel threatened by our presence?! This needs to be rectified and addressed

Brittany the bartender is kind of mean.. Not too personable at all. Had a bad experience dealing with her recently & it’s influenced me to stop coming to Joystick, which has been a favorite for me for almost a year now. She stated that flipping the bird is her usual greeting to coworkers and customers alike…. Not nice, not nice at all.

Joystick is easily one of my favorite bars ever. The community is great, the drinks are fantastic, and the food is delicious.

Joystick hosts all sorts of free weekly events, ranging from a super smash bros tournament on Sundays to dungeons and dragons on Mondays to karaoke Thursday-Saturday. The people are fantastic, and the bartenders are awesome.

Speaking of which, the vibe is a dive-y game bar with all sorts of arcade games around (and some board games to play, too!). You'd expect the drinks to be fine, but their cocktails are actually insanely good and pretty unique. They're better than the cocktails I've had at places that are explicitly cocktial-centered, tbh.

The food menu is sparse, but each item is absolutely delicious, from the bolgogi tacos to the sliders to the Korean corn dogs. The sesame fries are amazing, too!

10/10, highly recommend.

Visited the Joystick Gamebar for a private event during my business trip. Pinball was awesome, and there were some cool older games like Mortal Kombat, Galaga, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Day of the Dead, and more. Had a great time, and the food that was provided was awesome.

Bartender, Wyatt, is unhinged. And so is his assistant. Worst experience on Edgewood so far from a bartender.

Only writing this review because of the change in the tacos. Used to get three for the same price, but then something changed, I don't know what but it made me sad. There's only two tacos now, and the sauce seems to be over kill/more spicy? It's doesn't have like. A proper blend of flavoring like it did a few months back. It almost tastes like it's being drowned in a spicy thousand island dressing now?

Most of the games are gone. People are openly smoking weed at the bar. What was formerly an amazing space is now kind of sad unfortunately.

First and best bar we went to on our trip. Played some games and everyone was welcoming and I didn't feel like I was stranger despite just meeting the other bar patrons. Cool vibe. Chill. Fun.
