Marcel is marvelous. The 1930s Paris Bistro ambience and decor means you are stepping into another world. The service is friendly and attentive. The food is out of this world (Escargots, dover sole, Filet Madame, Escalloped potatoes, 10 layer chocolate cake). A favorite dining spot for special occasions.
Everyone was attentive and delightful. Nick and Vino were especially professional and accommodating. We had a wonderful anniversary celebration.
Someone should check in with the staff here. You can feel the tension. No one smiles, they are all extremely serious and unfriendly. The host in the beginning was extremely rude and passive aggressive. She set the tone for our experience early on. We were sat and waited 40 min for a steak that was undercooked, we ordered a side that never came out. $190 tab for a terrible experience. I rather have went to chilis. Do not recommend.
The service, as always, was impeccable. My ratings are relative to a prime steakhouse. We had the 42oz porterhouse for three. Unless the bone weighed 25oz, it was way under weight. The three of us had maybe 6oz each. It tasted good even though it was definitely more rare than the medium we ordered. The Pomme Aligot sounds awesome. It's just meh and very hard to serve and eat. We had 8oz filet, 42oz porterhouse, 3 sides, 1 glass of wine and 2 soft drinks. After 20% tip it was $600. This menu is priced at the extreme end of prime steakhouses. Only one steak under $100, 8oz filet. It's good, it's not $600 good. I'll do Rathbun's next time.
It was okay, lamb was mostly bone and fat. Steak was good, fries were good. Oysters and ceased salad are a must.
Great food and service. Made our night super special. Will be back every year to celebrate!
Aaron was fantastic! He helped to explain some menu items and listened to our bad Dad jokes. Was very attentive and his team that helped with the table were wonderful as well. Also enjoyed the communication before the reservation to ensure the birthday details were accurate. We come here at least once a year and would love to visit more. I set the noise level to high but their acoustic setup allows you to easily hear people at your own table. We love Marcel!
Earlier I had lost my reading glasses and as a result, I could not see the menu very good. This must have been conveyed to our waiter because he showed up with a box full of reading glasses, and I tried several until I found a pair that worked! Saved my evening.
Everything was nice. The servers was outstanding and we will definitely return to experience the food and service again.
Beautiful way to celebrate my 28th!! Thank you all for accommodating my request! Porterhouse was DELICIOUS and so JUICY!! Cypress was the name of my server he did excellent recognize his efforts please!

Food is definitely over rated. Staff and service was very good, very freidly. But food (other than the steak) is overpriced cafeteria food. Also, the ladies room was in shambles. (Midtown location)
Came here for our anniversary. Kenn and Yancy were excellent in our service. The dry aged steak has incredible, deep flavor. Oysters Marcel were our favorite thing on the menu. Pricy, but absolutely worth it for a special occasion.

We recently celebrated our thirty-fifth wedding anniversary at Marcel. This was our first time at Marcel. It is decorated and feels like an old N.Y.City steakhouse. We noticed a number of other patrons who were also celebrating a wedding anniversity or birthday at the restaurant. This is clue that Marcel attracts patrons who want to spurge for a high priced dinner and celebrate a special occasion.
We were promtly seated at our reservation time. Shortly thereafter we were greeted by our waiter. He recognized our wedding anniversary as well as every staff member that served our table. The service at Marcel's is impeccable and is the gold standard for a fine dining restaurant. My wife and I could not stop talking about how the service at Marcel was exceptional.
We were shhown a wine list that contained perhaps hundreds of wines ranging in cost from the $60-$70 range upwards to $6,000. Marcel's has an outstanding collections of wines primarily from France, Spain, Italy Germany and the U.S. We chose a Spanish red wine bottled in 2016. The cost of the wine was $99.00. It had a deep red hew and was incredibly smooth and satisfying.
As an appetizer we ordered the Oyster Marcel. We were served five small baked oysters with savory butter and breadcrumbs. We were a bit disappointed with the size of the oysters. The butter and breadcrumbs were a nice addition to the oyster but we would not recommend ordering this appetizer as the cost does not merit the five small oysters.
We also ordered the Salad Marcel. We would highy recommend this salad that serves two. There were fresh greens, candied walnuts and a cream maple and bacon vinagrette dressing that was very complimentary to the flavor of the other salad items. There was small piece of blue cheese in the salad that added a bit of zest to the taste. Good balance of texture and flavor to the salad.
We ordered the 30 oz. Porterhouse steak medium rare. It was cooked to perfection. The filet part of the Porterhouse melted in your mouth. I wish there had been more of the filet to share between us. There was probably only 6-8 ozs or so of the filet. The N.Y. strip part of the steak had a wonderful taste. There was a medium sized bone in the Porthouse that is good to take home and chew on. We did exactly that as we could not eat all of the steak. The waiter suggested the Beurre Maitre d'aux Truffle sauce that was pourved over the steak in just the right amount. It did not overwhelm the flavor of the steak. The waiter also recommended the roasted mushrooms in wine. This was a nice addition to our meal and not too filling. If you like mushrooms - which I understand are locally sourced - this is a plesant addition to the meal.
We finished our meal with a pumpkin pie of sorts. It was not your typical pumpkin pie. Nonetheless, the flavor was terrific. The pumpkin flavor was quite enjoyable.
Overall, we would definitely go back to Marcel for a special occasion. It is a high end restaurant that you need reservations for. It was quite busy for a Sunday evening. It is expensive. But you receive excellent service and the quality of the food was quite memorable.

What an amazing experience. Old school DINING in the best possible way. A really cool “steakhouse” vibe with some subtle eclectic touches. Attentive and friendly staff that was in no way overbearing (thanks again for a wonderful evening, Yancey and Bryce). Best of all, though, was the food. Starting with the phenomenal bread service and ending with the delight of their interpretation of a Baked Alaska (think chocolate chip cookie sundae meets s'more's), every dish was fantastic. We had heard so many wonderful things that we went “all in” for the Beef Wellington, and I am so glad that we did. Yet we watched dishes come out of the kitchen all night that made us “oooo and ahhhh.” We look forward to coming back to try as many of them as we can in the years to come.
