Murphy's overall experience was very good. Service, food and atmosphere were fantastic!! I've been there a couple times and it keeps getting better each time.
The food and service were excellent.
First I've experienced a restaurant's website presents better than the actual food. There is also a “Non cash fee” added to your bill when not paying with cash. Which is quiet surprising in 2025.....
Walked in with party of 5. Saturday brunch. Got seated, very friendly. Best grits so far in Atlanta. No complaints, everything was delicious.

Great good and great atmosphere. Our server, Mercy, was outstanding. Very courteous and prompt with her service and a beautiful smile.
We ordered the New Orleans style BBQ shrimp to share and fought over the last piece of sourdough toast to sop up the sauce. Her whole grilled butterflied branzino was perfect, crispy, moist and tender. My steak Caesar could have been trimmed a tiny bit better, but it wasn't overcooked, had crunchy bits and a great steak flavor matching up with the house-made dressing which was excellent. We were celebrating so the mini dessert trio capped off a relaxed, well-paced, excellent meal served by a skilled waiter.
Murphy’s just feels like home. Whenever I come “home” to Atlanta, it’s always one of my first stops. Open since 1980, it has never forsaken its red-brick walls or its quiet, effortless finesse. It’s comfort with class—especially when it comes to the food.
I’m a bar eater, and today’s lunch was a perfect example of why I keep coming back: a classic salmon BLT on gluten-free bread (of course), paired with a velvety sweet potato soup that fits the season just as beautifully as the yellowing fall leaves outside. I tried my first Veltliner on the recommendation of my knowledgeable bartender, Tyler, and it was spot-on. The wine selections here are always adventurous and ever-changing.
Murphy’s isn’t exactly my grandmother’s kitchen—but it might be my sophisticated aunt’s. Warm, welcoming, and always delicious. A true Atlanta gem.

We have always adored Murphy's. Such a wonderful atmosphere, great staff, and the food is always incredible. Ever since moving away from the Virginia Highlands area, we have missed being able to enjoy Murphy's as much as we used to. So when we saw that you are now delivering, we were thrilled! We ordered dinner this weekend and had it delivered. Everything was superb and the highest of quality. We loved your kale salad, Thai Chicken Salad and the citrus salmon with polenta. We will definitely being doing delivery again very soon. Thank you!

We have always had great meals at Murphy’s! This weekend was over the top great! My son has several top 9 food allergies, and we had excellent service at every step - I sent a message on the website ahead of time, the chef emailed me back promptly with details about what food was safe/not safe, and details about the shared fryer (safe for us, might not be safe for others), and that they would cook the fish in a separate pan and not the shared cooktop. My son had several delicious food options; since we eat what is safe for him, that meant we all ate well :) our waitress also gave us a lot of confidence by telling us that the old fashion has walnut oil (not listed on menu) and paying close attention to garnishes that would not be safe for us. Not to mention the overall great service for a large group including 4 kids at dinnertime. Really, it was amazing. We look forward to returning every time we visit Atlanta!! Thank you!!! 🙏

The first impression of Murphy's is a masterclass in delightful deception. From the street, the restaurant presents itself as a charming, intimate storefront, a classic neighborhood bistro tucked away in the heart of Virginia-Highland. But step through the front door, and the space immediately unfolds into a surprisingly large and vibrant sanctuary. It's an expansive layout that still manages to feel cozy, avoiding the coldness of a large commercial space.
The true magic of Murphy's lies in its atmosphere. It possesses that rare quality of feeling instantly familiar and comforting, as if you’ve returned to an old friend's perfectly appointed home, even on your very first visit. The decor—warm lighting, rich wood accents, and subtle energy—creates a sophisticated yet relaxed buzz. It’s an ideal setting for both intimate dates and lively group gatherings.
Beyond the inviting ambiance, the drink menu is a major highlight and a celebration of the vine. Forget basic selections; Murphy's features an extensive and thoughtful wine list, curated to offer a fantastic range of varietals and prices. What truly sets it apart is the equal emphasis placed on sparkling wines and champagne. This isn't just an afterthought; it's a sophisticated menu designed for both the casual sipper and the celebratory toast, ensuring there’s a perfect bottle to pair with any mood or meal.
