It's a shame to see a chain known for excellent standards sink to this level. It had been around 20 years since my last P.F. Chang's meal when I visited the Tampa restaurant. I had high expectations. Other locations had served me food that compared well with the top restaurants in New York City. The Tampa location is run-down. It smells of old grease. When we were there, the staff had obnoxious dance music playing. There were almost no customers. We received pork dumplings that tasted rotten. I hadn't sent a dish back since about 1982, but I couldn't make myself pay $14 for 6 unusually small dumplings I was afraid to eat. I ordered an egg roll instead. It tasted as though it had been frozen for months. I took a few bites and quit.I ordered kung pao chicken. It was very dry, with little sauce. The chicken tasted funny, but I was very hungry, so I ate most of it. Not good. I shouldn't have risked it.My wife ordered Mongolian beef. She couldn't eat it. I tried it. It had a barnyard smell to it, somewhat like horse manure. We set it aside. Her fried rice lacked flavor. It needed salt, and although it looked brown, it tasted as though it had nearly no soy sauce in it.The cucumber salad that came with my entree was fine. The waiter tried to be helpful, but he was very slow considering the fact that the restaurant was empty. The manager comped $44 worth of food, meaning the dumplings and the beef. We should have rejected all of it and gone to Chick-fil-A or even McDonald's.Now I'm hoping we don't get sick. I am wondering whether the restaurant's refrigerators are working. The impression I get is that corporate has given up trying, and the staff is just waiting for this location to die.

It was late evening, I was so hungry and ready to eat. There was open seating at the bar. I had Spring Rolls as an appetizer, the dipping sauce had a lot of spicy ginger, it was hot and wonderful. For the main dish, I had the Miso Glazed Salmon, I substitued the house greens with freshly sauteed spinach and mushrooms. I thorougly enjoyed the food, which was freshly prepared and I enjoyed the mood of the dim lights at the bar. The atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable.

I am not sure how this franchise is popular. Local chinese foods are much better anywhere you go. Small portion, salty or too sweet. Get panda express instead if you want american chinese food

Momento Mori

Having fond memories of PF Changs, we decided to grab a late lunch. Service was great, food definitely not the quality I remember. Crispy green beans- bland, the shrimp lo mein was served with Ramen noodles, so disappointing, the ribs were mostly fat, and the sesame chicken had a mushy texture, as did the sprimp in the "lo mein". I DO NOT make a big deal of my food. I didn't even mention it to the staff because it is clear this is a cheap food quality issue. Nothing like what I remember. We really wanted Chinese on a simple Sunday from a spot like Bo Bo Garden. Should have trusted that instinct and made that trip. Will NOT be wasting anymore time or money here.
