Usually door dash this place but wanted to pull up this time. Ordered a 1/4 chicken dinner, side of street corn and a horchata for $26, when I got my food I asked for two extra salsa’s and had to pay 50c each for them. Considering I spent almost $30 on one single meal I would think they would throw the two salsa’s in the bag with no charge. Also the wait was really long. Food is always a 10/10!!

I was expecting a lot more due to the reviews and the "california inspired..." comment. But sadly the chicken, beans, rice and salsas needed flavor. The green salsa was like water, salt and green coloring. Don't be fooled there's nothing campared to Cali in this stablishment.

FYI packaging fee of 5% charged as well as CC surcharge of 3% being charged. Total tax charged for my order does not make sense. Food is good (whole bird meal), beans are our favorite, but charging practices will keep us away in the future.

The three stars go for the staff, ample parking and how fast my food actually came out (under 5 min). However the chicken is buRRRnt, I understand it’s al carbon but the amount is black ash on my hands was a bit much. The chicken was juicy under the burrntess, though the flavor was a underwhelming. The beans were ok. The rice however is akin to minute rice but worse which is sad as the menu is quite simple and decent rice should be par for the course. I did love that they included all three sauces. Really wanted to love this place, Atlanta really needed a fast casual Peruvian/South American style chicken place but I’d give this one a hard pass.

I mean…it wasn’t that authentic Mexican flavor that I was looking for but it wasn’t bad. It’s definitely different but not bad.

The food is fresh and unremarkable. I was completely underwhelmed by the flavor. Awesome service and atmosphere, however. The flavors are just not there. I am incredibly disappointed given the abundance of promising reviews. No. No! No!

Dear Pollo Primo,

We are longstanding customers, however, tonight our dinner was well below the standards in which we have come to expect from you. The chicken was very dry, hardly any seasoning, and the beans were very bland.

We hope you haven’t changed your recipe and this is a one off occurrence. We will be back soon, and hopefully we will have a better meal.

Awesome restaurant! The food is amazing! I come here at least once a week. I am one star short because nowhere on the menu is a vegetable (outside of guacamole). At least a simple salad would be nice to balance out the beans and chicken. Otherwise the service is great, the restaurant is very clean, they are fast to provide you with your order, and the food is always fresh and tasty

There is an opportunity for a competitor in this space, and hopefully one will open soon in Atlanta. Food is good but getting it is such a pain that it's not worth it. They're so busy that they sometimes turn off online and phone ordering. I'm not going to drive to order in the store and then wait 30 minutes for takeout. Did that once here and never again. Very odd way to run the business because they have very limited indoor seating (3-4 tables), so most people are getting takeout, especially during winter.

Rice and beans are on point but the chicken is always dry. Probably cooked in bulk. They need to pull it off sooner. I cant ever finish it

Manager Andrea was extremely rude and abrupt. I asked one of the staff members if I could park where I parked and he said it was ok. The other staff were professional and kind. Andrea (Mgr.) could really benefit from additional customer service training. There's no reason for such a bad attitude! Could possibly be that Food Service is not for her. While we sat to eat, someone else had parked where I previously parked and Andrea's overhead announcement was a bit more pleasant. I wounder why my mistreatment was so very abrupt, could it be racial. I wonder because nothing else could explain it.

I'm a little confused. Came by after seeing it listed as one of the best Mexican places in Atlanta. Atlanta, for your sake, I hope that's not true. Maybe I visited on an off night. On the plus side, it's a lot of food for not a lot of money. The chicken was juicy inside. Not much flavor once you got past the blackened spices on the skin, but juicy. Would have liked more of a citrus or marinade flavor and less of a "burnt herbs and spices" flavor since this was (I thought) supposed to be SoCal or Sinaloan style pollo asado, but eh, maybe that's not what they're going for. The rice tasted like basmati rice. The beans were a bit rich for my taste, but to each their own. The tortillas were, bar none, the toughest tortillas I can ever remember eating and I have eaten a LOT of tortillas. The pico de gallo was easily the best part of the meal and I enjoyed that. Maybe I would try again to see if my experience was a fluke. Maybe not.

BEST roasted chicken in town! The Mexican beans are out of the world! I stumble on this place by chance. I trusted the 4.6 stars average.
Big fan! Will recommend to friends and family! Don't forget to ask for the mesquite!
