Longleaf is such an enjoyable experience. The big windows that look out over the garden give it an open and relaxed atmosphere. Our server was attentive and so cordial to our party of four that included an almost-three-year-old. The oysters were a treat as were the fish and chips and meatball sandwich. The delicious potato and leak soup came in a generous serving with sliced, toasted artisan bread. Even the butter pasta received a "thumbs up" from the little diner. I would recommend Longleaf for a special occasion and also the incredible orchid exhibition that starts Valentine's weekend.
Nice break in our visit around the park! I had the Lamb entree which was very interesting. Meat was overcooked and the pasta somewhat undercooked. I wouldn't order it again
I would say that our last experience was out of the ordinary. We usually eat at Longleaf and haven't had a mediocre meal until yesterday. The fish (fish and chips) just dell apart and could not be eaten by hand or with a fork (as pieces fell in the mound of fries it was served on top of. Hubby liked his burger. Kids chix fingers breading was so hard that we had yo peel it off. All fries were a bit heavy/soggy. I would recommend bread service, salads and pastas.
Wanted to eat inside. There were available tables inside but they insisted we needed to sit on patio. Thought this reservation would allow us to. Food is good but ridiculously expensive and $12 for bread....really.
Understand that this is sort of a hybrid restaurant inside the botanical gardens which makes it a little different from most places. We had a reservation for 6:30 and showed up at 6:20 - the host made us wait on a bench at the entrance until 6:30 to be seated in a mostly empty restaurant. This was just stupid. When seated, then we waited another 20 minutes for a drink. After that, the food service was very good and quick. The food was very good. The wine list is very overpriced, however. It was hard to find a wine that was a good value. When I did find one, they were out of it, but offered a higher priced wine at the cost of the first bottle.
We went to the Holliday Lights and decided to eat at Longleaf. It was very good food but even better service. Our server, Miya (sp) was friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel like special guests.
Food and service were great. We suggest if youre going to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, you plan a meal at this restaurant.
We had a reservation on Tuesday, December 9 at 7 pm. The restaurant was busy and the staff seemed unprepared. Once we were seated around 7:15 and our orders placed, the wait staff was fairly nonexistent. We were brought glasses of water but no silverware. My husband had ordered a glass of wine which didn't show up until well after our food was brought. They did comp the wine but the whole experience was not good and the food was just okay. We expected a better experience based on the prices they charge. We won't return.
Lovely environment. Have eaten here many times... food was better than usual and had a really nice time!
My wife and I have been wanting to eat at Longleaf for several years. Her birthday is Dec. 6, but work forced us to celebrate last night instead. We made plans to see the holiday lights at the gardens and then finally have dinner at Longleaf. We were pumped for our reservation last night, and got even more excited when we walked in the door. The place is immaculate! The tables, the fireplace, the floor to ceiling windows. Everything about the overall vibe screamed classy. We were greeted and seated right away...it was 9pm. We sat down, were served water and told our server would be right over. No problem at all. Then, everything went down hill from there. I've been serving tables for the past 24 years having worked in all levels of service from high volume fast paced casual to white table cloth fine dining. We received possibly the worst service Ive ever gotten since I began serving tables. Our server, Montarae, skipped almost every step of service there is except the greet, taking the order, and delivering the bill. We were so excited to eat at Longleaf and the service we got completely ruined our evening. We were going to enjoy the holiday lights some more after dinner, but instead just went home out of disappointment. Monatrae either didn't seem to care about giving us even decent service let alone good service, or maybe she thought that we weren't worth the time and effort. Very bad and disappointing first impression after wanting to dine there for years, because of the service. 1 star.

For the price I think 3.5 stars is fair. We came for Holiday Nights and it really is a great double date spot. The restaurant is beautiful and feels high end and modern. The food had some seasoning issues though. The half chicken tasted only of rosemary and needed salt and acid. The scallops were absolutely delicious and the frisée was a great touch, but the menu mentioned a bacon jam and I did not taste any bacon at all. My friend enjoyed his steak au poivre. Another friend had the duck confit which she said was delicious and well seasoned, although the beans and sun dried tomatoes did not seem to work with the dish. Service was standard. Holiday Nights are always packed so it gets busy, but everything moved at a normal pace. Overall, upscale, beautiful, expensive, and mostly great.
Love the burgers at Longleaf! This time we also tried the beef cheek and it was fantastic! Grateful to all of the staff for handling everything so smoothly on such a busy evening.
Longleaf called me day of and told me they had cancelled my reservation and gave no reason as to why it was cancelled.
The staff was lovely, the restaurant was overwhelmed. The staff did their best, yet they could not adequately handle the bookings. No critique of the service. The restaurant needs to rethink its booking during the holidays. There nothing wrong with booking fewer tables, and not overwhelming the kitchen or the staff.
My daughter and I have an annual tradition of going to eat at Longleaf before walking around the Garden Lights. This time, as per usual, the food was great, the service was excellent (ask for Reece!) and the ambience was warm & inviting. We thoroughly enjoyed the clam chowder, fish & chips (their homemade tartar sauce is awesome) and the lamb pasta (also with homemade noodles). I'd highly recommend going the next time you visit the Botanical Gardens - or even just for a nice night out!
