Avoid this place at all costs. Spend your $$$ elsewhere. And it's not easy for me to say this... I've been a long term customer. But lately, the food & service has went downhill. I don't know if the new management has taken over yet...

On 2 occasions over the past few months -- I've ordered a plain chesseburger to go. I've taken the time to be extra clear in the notes of my order. But upon picking up my food, it's not right. And the staff doesn't really seem to care if your order is correct or not. They really don't.

Earlier today, I ordered a PLAIN burger (only chesse). It wasn't right. I asked for it to be right. The burger was given back to me and the packaging and the lettuce/sauce was still on the bun. They scrapped it off, but did a lousy job. Very sloppy. (If you allergies -- beware about eating here!)

If a restaurant can't give a customer a PLAIN burger (when the customer clearly asks), then the cook of that establishment needs to be fired. $23 for a plain burger and they can't get it right. Even Burger King is better. I finally demanded a refund.

Unless the new management takes some drastic measures to improve customer service & food quality, this place won't be open much longer.

Hope when the new owners update things they keep some of the fun decor and old owners photos. Food was good as always. Been going here for late night dinner or snack for close to 30 years.

Placed an order for pickup at 8 am… did was getting packed up when I arrived staff was pleasant.

Was hungry and excited to eat my favorite breakfast…
My scrambled eggs I ordered (that I was charged .60 for) but instead I was given what’s supposed to be a fried egg I guess… it was just a glob of egg so I’m guessing liquid eggs even though I recall getting fresh eggs. Not edible at all.
The potatoes—— they tasted, felt, and looked old… they were burnt and charred and it was mainly skins the onions were burnt too.
No complaints about the chicken, but it wasn’t great and it wasn’t bad especially compared to everything else.
I didn’t even eat the French toast as my appetite was ruined. I’ve ordered the same thing for years even prior to Covid. I also ordered it on Uber eats and had it delivered and never got this quality of food.
Don’t think I’m be back to spend $20 on breakfast again… I really come for the nostalgia and of course the birds.

They charge a 15% fee on takeout/pickup orders “since Covid”. Chicken sandwich is decent.

i’ve been eating at this restaurant for a while however going to the restaurant and ordering from Uber Eats seems to be completely different today. I ordered the bubble Gump shrimp and it was utterly horrible. I was so surprised I had to call the restaurant. They didn’t say it sat out for 30 minutes as they waited for the Uber driver to come why would you make an order? Let it sit out for 30 minutes So basically, my food was stale because on top of the hours, it was sitting out it had to get to me It was utterly a mess, hardly any potatoes. The only good thing on there was the eggs, the onions drowned out everything. I really like this place, but please please please work on your Uber Eats orders.

My husband and I have been visiting R. Thomas for years. I'm deeply disappointed by our experience tonight and questioning whether I want to ever go back.

First, the good: We love its vegan options but also the fact that it's a fun, yummy place to visit with non-veg friends ... plus, it has deeply appreciated late hours for when we've been out to a show and are craving some vegan noms before we head home.

Tonight, however, both the service and some of the food was pretty disappointing.

From the get-go, our server treated us like an inconvenience; he was gruff, unpleasant, and spoke only when absolutely necessary. There was no greeting, and we waited quite a while to even order. When he did finally decide to take our order, he just stood over us with his pad, apparently waiting for us to talk to him ...? We were confused but started ordering. It was unpleasant.

On top of that, my husband's side dish, the home fries, were made in the most rancid oil we've ever tasted. The dish was so bitter and, again, rancid that it was truly inedible. Believe me, we're not fussy; it was baaaad. My husband let the server know and was offered a replacement dish, which we appreciated. He ordered the rosemary potatoes, and they tasted fine. Presumably, the oil was changed? We couldn't believe the kitchen let the first order out of the kitchen, though. You could smell the weird, rancid odor pretty readily. It was nauseating.

A final note but one that's important to me: I was disappointed to see that covers aren't being placed over the birds' cages at night. I asked about it and was told the cages aren't covered until it starts getting cold. The restaurant is on a busy road, and cars enter and exit the lot literally right next to the cages. I waited outside by the birds when we were done with dinner while my husband used the restroom, and I watched as they kept getting woken up by the lights and sounds of cars and humans. It broke my heart. I also so hope they get daily time out of those cages. They're smart, loving beings who deserve enriched lives, not prison.
