Rio's Italian Ice & Ice Cream

Can't speak to the quality of the ice cream, but I can say the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. My 10 year old daughter wanted an ice cream cone from their food truck while we were at the Dawsonville outlet mall. First sign was his attitude when she asked if she could mix the flavors (i.e., one scoop each of different flavors). If you're wondering, the answer was no. She settled on strawberry. They don't put ice cream inside the cone, just the two scoops on top, which means they need to really press the ice cream down, not just rest it on top (it's just how physics works). Spoiler, they did not press the ice cream down. So maybe 3 or 4 licks in, the two scoops fell off the cone and onto the ground. His response when she came back to ask if he would replace them was, "if I had to replace every kid's ice cream that dropped, I'd go out of business." I chose not to pay for two more scoops and spent my money at Marble Slab across the street instead, which is a shame because I would much rather support a fellow black entrepreneur.

A little walk-up window for Italian ice and ice cream. They have a variety of flavors and good prices for the amount you get. Consistently friendly service. No tables or anything to eat outside at but a decent size parking area.

Every time I go to Rio’s I get a little taste of home. The Italian Ices are my favorite especially mango, passion fruit and tamarind. The staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I can never make up my mind what to get and I never feel rushed to make a decision.

This is the BEST Italian Ice in the city hands down! The variety of flavors are unique, delicious and the texture of the ice is perfection! I love that they have sugar free options as well. Such a scrumptious treat for all to enjoy.

We walked all the way down there & they don’t take cash. They have an ice cream truck and they don’t take cash. So people who work cash jobs are just out of luck! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
