My bf and I try to come at once a quarter to try the new menus. Right now they have Jamaican through 4/1 (1 month longer than usual) which our waitress said is partially due to how popular the menu is. I know she's supposed to hype but the place was PACKED on a WEDNESDAY and this was perhaps the best experience I've had in all my years eating here. The coconut milk marinated rice and peas, jerk chicken, gift of the moons pork belly, escovitch, and island Shepard skillet were all wonderfully seasoned and packed full of flavor. The service was fast and attentive, the decor is always a hoot to observe, and I'll be back before 4/1 to try the curry goat and oxtail soup.

Cindi was the bomb. So professional, so kind, and an absolute pleasure to have as a server. Ask for Cindi!!!
Many places have good food and good vibes. But when the service is great, it makes the overall experience so much more unforgettable. Loved my time here and will be back (asking for Cindi) the next time I’m in the city.

Truly one of the gems in the Midtown area! As a first timer, I really found this experience to be up to par. Everything from the expert service, where the server's attention to detail and suggestions were superb, to the curation of the menu, allow me to transport on a journey to the Caribbean. Portion sizes were big enough for solo or share; and they flavors very well blended. Cocktail selection was impressive and matched the selected featured country of the month. Highly recommend.

Our waiter, Jay was simply OUTSTANDING!!!! Extremely knowledgeable about the dishes, the combination of flavors, the passionate and detailed description, the details about the origin, etc. Best server I have had in a very long time! Made the experience simply amazing. Food was equally outstanding! First time for me at the restaurant but will definitely come back!

I highly recommend The Consulate. The service is top notch and the food was superb. There is the use of quality ingredients and the concept of changing the menu every 90 days based on the country picked by a patron's pick from a spin on the globe is innovative. I will be back for sure!

This is our favorite 😍 restaurant in the ATL for more reasons than one, parking, the hostess, servers, the Chef, the owner everyone is so customer focused....the food is absolutely the very best....as a Jamaican I give it up to the Chef who nailed the curry goat, jetk chicken, escovietched snapper fillet, rice & peas, the other non-Jamaican items the okra, jollof rice, shrimp stuffed bell pepper, cauliflower, battered prawns then the dessert, Jamaican fruit cake, flan, cheesecake, sorbet....I can do this every day...YUM

Great staff with the exception of the guy making the drinks for the restaurant (rude and snarky) food was really good (ox tails weren't Jamaican oxtails as advertised) everything else was amazing

Great ambiance, Global menu, and excellent service. Very low key and upscale. You have at least dress business casual.

A really fun concept, changing national origins of their menu every quarter, and lovely venue and ambience. Great location. Looked like a big success on line. Slow service with surprisingly poor attitude from most staff (our waitress was fun and knowledgable and absent). At the delivery of our food and drink, we asked each of three different employees for knives and forks and napkins, and were told no, that is your server's responsibility, and we waited until our food was long cold before we could even eat (lol), and the slow delivery of food...hmmm. Really? And the cuisine was on par with the Varsity , honestly. Our group of friends enjoyed the evening, and everyone was hungry when we left, after yummy appetizers, petite/bland/late entrees and with divine dessert. Best wishes to everyone.

I am giving The Consulate Restaurant a 5 star although I feel that they were incredibly under staffed for a Saturday night (which can be unforeseen circumstances to a restaurant owner, which I sympathize). To begin, my reservation process over the phone was easy, yet thorough. The young lady on the other end of the phone was friendly and knowledgeable. I booked a private area for my wife and our friends/family to celebrate her. Fast forward to the night of the dinner. The staff was very inviting and accommodating. The server, Cherry, was friendly and worked very hard considering the circumstances. My entire group had zero complaints about the food which was very well prepared. We attended on a Jamaican cuisine night and the food was a 5 out of 5. I had the Jerk chicken and my wife had the Snapper. The drinks were also made very well and flavorful with just amount of bang. The restaurant management made sure that the planning, prep and dinner evening all went smoothly for our occasion. The bottled still water was a bit pricey, however the food was very reasonably priced for the atmosphere and ambiance of the place. I will be going back soon for another occasion I’m sure.

This review is based on my most recent visit to The Consulate last week, when the rotating menu focus was on Jamaica. I’ve been here multiple times over the years, usually when the menu changes to highlight a new country, so I’m familiar with both the concept and the experience.

The service is consistently efficient, the drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is beautiful. The restaurant does a great job creating a polished, upscale dining environment, and the bar program is always a strong point.

Unfortunately, the food quality is wildly inconsistent, and this visit fell on the disappointing side of that pattern. My dish was genuinely not good, and while my friend’s jerk chicken was technically acceptable, it was so heavily salted that it wasn’t especially pleasant. He enjoyed it more than I did, but neither of us felt the food matched the price point.

At these prices, there’s really no excuse for substandard dishes — especially when I know The Consulate is capable of delivering exceptional food. I’ve had excellent meals here in the past. That inconsistency is the core issue.

My recommendation:
If you go (and I don’t think people shouldn’t go — it’s still a good overall experience), stick with the long-standing, regular menu items rather than the rotating, country-specific dishes. The rotating concepts are creative, but sometimes they miss the mark. Unfortunately, the Jamaica menu was one of those misses.

Great drinks, great service, beautiful space — but the food needs to be more reliable to justify the cost.
